I always like to make up band names, usually from snippets of conversation and other funny wordplay.... among my favorites: Fillet of Soul When Stools Float The Snapperwhippers Got any made-up band names of your own? Wondering if your made-up band name is really original? Check the "Ultimate Band List" to see at www.ubl.com

Back to made-up names ... A couple of years back, there was a news story about a spill and fire at a Kentucky distillery. A friend of mine was trying to come up with a name for his band, and based on that news story I thought I came up with the perfect name -"Flaming Rivers of Bourbon" He didn't use it, but I still thought that would make a good name for a band. |

When I was in high school I dreamed of having a band so I could name it Vicious Fishes. I thought it was such a dreadful name that I desperately wanted to use it. Many years later, I did a google search on it and found out that someone named their design firm that name and the magic was instantly gone. Now the name means nothing to me. |

I was in a band called "Plaster Cast of Thousands." Jim, the bass player in my current band, was in a group called "Brave New Squirrel." anyone who's ever been in a band knows what a pain it is to agree on a name. I was in a band once where we went weeks trying to decide what we'd be called. eventually out of frustration, we called ourselves "13" after seeing a box from an old 13" TV in the corner of the basement we rehearsed in. |

Back in the mid '90's, I was involved with a short lived project that played obscure blues covers. We were looking through the yellow pages and came up with "Concrete Consignment" as a possible name for the group. The words were the headers on opposing pages. The name never flew and we ended up as "Hardluck & Trouble" and that too fizzled out. Back in high school I was in "The National Debt", and since the early '90's, "Feedback", which is shortened from "The Lake Parsippany Feedback Blues Band" |

Dirty Sneakers, local band of some repute in the mid-80s, were pretty good. Can't remember whether my brothers' band (2 brothers, so correct possessive apostrophe, I believe) at one time was named Those Amazing Heads. Or was that their softball team? All I know is I had a shirt. |

Brick Pig *is* my made-up band name. It's something a friend and I came up with shortly after college. It is now the name I use any time I write, record, and/or play music. It still makes me laugh after all these years. When I lived in Pennsylvania, I also played in a friend's band called Frankie Big Face. My wife came up with that name when we were having dinner one night with the friend, whose name is Frank. We were discussing The Sopranos, and then talking about mob names. Shameless self-promotion, for anyone interested: http://brick-pig.com http://frankiebigface.com (Almost every song is free for downloading on both sites.) Slightly off-topic: When I originally registered for this forum, I tried over and over to use my actual name, or some variation of it, but I got an error message every time. Eventually, I entered Brick Pig and it went right through. Interesting... |

We used to do this at college. Get people to name any two words and then link them into a band name. My all time favorite was Pumpkin Whisk
