Mem, I totally agree with you. The nonsense chatting is very time consuming in that I do other things while saying "Oh, yes" or "wow" tons of times, as well. It is not bad. I, too, should be able to tell my chatty friends I am busy, but on one hand, I enjoy the distraction and it helps for me to look busy while I am suppose to be busy. My kids think I have something important going on and this is good too, but a whole differant subject.
I like to get to the point on the phone or leave messeges.

Makes me think of Fawlty Towers - Sybil on the phone saying "Oh, I know .... Oh, I know .... Oh I knoooow ...."

Yeeesh.

I mentioned that I don't like talking on the phone once, when my dad was in earshot, and he nearly choked laughing. Because, of course, I call my mom every Saturday and talk for at least an hour. So she's my one exception - gotta talk to Mom every week. Apart from that, no phone for me thanks.

I was googling a name at work and it was such a blind search I opened each link returned. I was scrolling down the text of one link and saw a word (starts with a 'c' sounds like 'lit') and realized I was on a porn site -- AT WORK! I am sure this got flagged and am expecting to be fired tomorrow.

OK, this is really, really stupid.

Last week, I saw fresh new copies of Eating Well magazine in Whole Foods. I subscribe to that magazine. However, I didn't recognize the cover of this one (blue, with bananas) - and thought to myself, "huh, didn't get my Eating Well, wonder why not?" As the week wore on and still no Eating Well, I started to blame Mr. CLK - clearly, he hadn't paid for my subscription renewal!! I was most indignant. (didn't tell him my suspicions though, thank goodness ...)

Was in WF this afternoon, and picked up a copy, brought it home, and happened to be looking through stuff next to my reading chair and .... there it was, the copy of Eating Well that I had received about two weeks ago, and I'd already read it, cover to cover.

What is that stuff they sell for memory? Gingko Biloba?

I love Richard Wagner's music. Don't want to but there you go...

Why can't good people write so powerfully?

I have neither read the book nor seen the movie "Gone with the Wind"; nor do I have any interest in doing either.

Mem:

I know what you mean and it isn't just social calls that can be a big waste of time. I have been known to pull out the needlepoint and start stiching during especially long phone conversations with certain collegues who want to get their point across in excrutiating detail without wanting any comment from you in return other than those of the "I know" variety.

Today. While waiting in line for my lunch. I said to the counter guy that was very busy, "so, you guys are busy today, huh?"

I know better than that.

I own both a Debbie Gibson album and a Belinda Carlisle album. But I keep them sandwiched between a Suicidal Tendencies album and a Stormtroopers of Death album so no one gets the wrong idea.

Sorry. I know I put that Cher song on the table, but Rastro, you're NOT getting a pass from me for Debbie Gibson.

Go say 340,986,009 Glorias. The Patti Smith version, NOT the Van Morrison one. The put on a haz mat suit, get some tongs, and dispose of the Debbie Gibson album without getting any of its dander in the air.

On a completely unrelated note, does anyone have one of theose CD shredders? Do they work? Any chance of getting a finger caught, or accidentally having my wife's "Divas" CD drop into it?

I have one of those super shredders that can do 15 pages at once, including paper clips, and also does CDs and DVDs. I would be honored to turn your wife's Diva CD into pretty confetti.

It would, of course, have to accidentally fall in while shredding something else. How would you feel about throwing in a Debbie Gibson "Out of the Blue" disk?

Rastro - Don't feel so bad, if I still had a Record Player, I'd probably still have my "Tiffany" album.

My confession of the day is that one of my co-workers keeps giving me updates on her recent medical condition (it's nothing life threatening)and I can't bring myself to care in the slightest... Her personality generally rubs me the wrong way, so I just can't muster up the compassion for her right now. (I have more compassion for Rastro and his/her Debbie Gibson CD...)

I'm still a bad person for this, but it feels better to get it off my chest.
