If you were designing a montage which best reflected that which is the essence of MOL, what would you include? Reval? Political wrangling? Face to face get togethers? People who have been helped emotionally and financially through MOL readers generosity? Reports of roadway accidents and near misses? Restaurant reviews? Posters being dragged off in virtual handcuffs for breaking the rules of MOL? There are so many possibilities to choose from. What would you include in your personal MOL montage? |

Simply the sense of community and community involvement that comes from lurking or posting. Just this weekend I was talking to someone in my wife's Bead store and the subject of MOL came up. While I had to confess that I post way too much, the lady confessed that she lurked every day and read all the threads to see what was going on around the towns. Regardless of the topic, it is simply communications in an around the towns. |

Acknowledging that I, too, stand guilty of excessive monitoring of your precious little website, I might offer an alternative to the concept of one "essential" montage. I happen to believe that each of your posters is a story unto themselves, and so, for purposes of clarity and inclusiveness, each should probably have such a montage summing up their own persona, concerns, passions, and the like. Sort of a macro-avatar... I suspect, however, that if each MOLer were to post their own auto-assemblage here, (a) you'd suddenly all know one another a bit too well, and (2) the resulting knowledge might be quite disturbing... A modest example: Some time before his decision to depart the boards, my self-centered ex-employee Soda wasted considerable time and effort in creating this sad, bizarre, and all too revelatory graphic. I have retrieved it from the crashed hard drive of a "work-related" laptop, supplied to him with while he was still in my employ:
Who among you is prepared to similarly betray themselves??? Go in peace. --The Oracle of MOL |
