I posted this earlier as a "sub thread?" under another thread, but any way, here it is again. Mrs. roof and I drove up from Orlando on Saturday AM and overnighted in NC, a few clicks from the VA state line. There wasn't a snowflake to be seen on Saturday, just rain. Sunday, based upon the The Weather Channel and media coverage, we opted to extend our stay until this AM to avoid the storm and poor travel conditions. We sighted snow just north of Richmond and more as we drove on to Jersey, but nothing like what the media made it out to be. I have no doubt that we wouldn't have been able to drive through on Sunday, but where the heck is the 21" and 2'-3'drifts we heard about. Looks to us to be about 12" max!(But still a very bodacious snow storm!!) |

Oh - no doubt it was 21 inches in Maplewood. If you had to shovel/snow blow it on Sunday, you wouldn't have any doubt it was 21 inches either... |

By the time I walked my dog on Sunday evening, it was incredible how much the snow had compacted as the water and weight took hold. It was a legit 21" in the morning. |

Must be men that measure this stuff. Oh sure, honey, that's 21 inches. Right. |
