my mind is a blank these words do not flow for me my brain has pictures Argghhhhhhhhhh! The practical side of me is trumping my creative process. Where is the symmetry? Where is the melody, the rhyme, the funny play of alliterative words? I liked SoOrLady's poem but I realized it is because the 7 syllable line is on the bottom...where it sounds right to my ear. Must drink more coffee.. |

Hank, Yikes! ....good memory. Hey I have "rules" and the haiku won't get written until after 6:00PM if I need to rely on my old stand-by. I vote that we write in the style of Rogers & Hammerstein. I personally find it far more cheery. |

kmk, Ive been wondering how one can apply the Rodgers&Hammerstein style to MOL... "Shall We Dance?" may be appropriate for Soapbox jousting... "Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair" can be a Dave and Jamie tune when considering bans... "There is Nothing Like a Dave" to the tune of "There is Nothing Like a Dame" in honor of Dave Ross... "Lonely Notehead" to the tune of "Lonely Goatherd" tells the story of finding love on MOL... A medley of "I Caint Say No" and "All Er Nuthin'" for the MOL addicted... "So Long, Farewell" sung by all those who have said they were leaving for good... "Getting To Know You"...the official theme of the new members welcome area... "The Neighbors and The Lawnman" sung to "The Farmer and the Cowmen" (Oh, the neighbors and the lawnmen should be friends...)... But so far, the best seems to be... "On The Street Where You Live" I have often walked down this street before, but the pavement got too bad for me to ignore, wrote your address down, and then called the town, told them check out the street where you live. People stop and stare, they dont bother me, 'cause I trashed their campaign signs at night, when they couldnt see; let landscapers lie, its clear to our eyes, that they blow clippings into the street where you live...

I was thinking of the Cinderella melodies and comparing her prince to Maplewood. To the tune of A Lovely Night: A lovely town, A lovely town, A finer town you know you'll never see. You see your house, A charming house, As charming as a house will ever be! The stars in a hazy heaven Tremble above you While your house whispers, "Family, I love you!" You ne'er say goodbye, Only by day you fly, To your office, but first a kiss, All your life you'll dream of this Lovely, lovely town!

Or "The Mayor is Giving a Ball!" to The Prince is Giving a Ball and Impossible like this: Impossilbe! For a neighboring township to build a grocery store! Imposible! For a high school to maintain a very high score! And four town moms will never again take (college) courses - Such fol-de-rol and fiddledy dee of course is Impossible!

To the tune of "I Could Have Danced All Night" I couldnt go to bed! My head's too fried to try to set it down! I couldnt sleep tonight! Not with all these fools in this town... I could have typed all night, I could have typed all night, and still replied some more... I could have posted some zings, and written a thousand things, many written before... I'll never know what made it so enticing, why all at once my fingers took flight, I only know the hell, that is reading MOL, it made me type, type, type, all night! |

I saw.... but I ignored your concise and beautiful interplay of words. It must be because of my inability to "turn a phrase" and in turn, my deep-seated jealousy of your ability, that I have simply turned a deaf ear to it all. Alas and alack. |
