(a) I rode the train home with VinnyM this evening. Way cool.
(b) My invitations are done, done, DONE!!!! Ready to mail, deliver, email, post. I am SO ready to turn 38. AND I've got a teeth cleaning that afternoon (AND the secretary made a note in the book not to book my late husband that day as well), AND I'm going to wear heels that night. Just have to find a sitter for the cats and we're all set to go! (that last part was a joke) (really)
Will post the invite Saturday! Or tomorrow. Probably Saturday. But maybe tomorrow if I get too excited to wait until Saturday. |

Cyn, I have no idea how this is going to work out. It will be open, because there is a band playing that night and I'm sure they'll have people coming. I just don't have any idea how or if I'll be able to differentiate between the people I know and the people I don't. I'm not planning on guarding the cake. The single men you all bring me, yes. The cake, no.
I'm thinking of running the party like my personal life: pay enough people to look after my interests and hope they do their job. |

I know I'll regret admitting this, but I shan't be bringing any men with me, single or otherwise, unless thing change soon. I've thought about it, but do not know any these days. Maybe we should put up a sign in the Hoboken terminal near Track 11? |

I know your invitation said no presents, other than available men, but perhaps you could make this exception:
Rather than kniting all the bracelets yourself, why don't the guests each make a bracelet from found materials and wear it to the party? Single man bracelets, knitting needle bracelets (from circular needles?), "38" bracelets, train station bracelets, cat bracelets... the possibilities are endless.
Then you could get all the bracelets at the end of the evening as a momento of the gathering.
Just a thought.

Yes, Joan, I do have my tiara! (I always wear it to my birthday parties!)
However, I don't think I understand these 'available men' to which you refer. Straight single men as presents? Pour moi? Oh, Joan, you embarrass me! I would never be so gauche! Oh, really - a woman would have to be flat out desperate to make a request like that! 
Actually, I was speaking with Pen&Jen, and they'd like a list of attendees to direct people when they enter (I like to think of this as the 'A-list'.), so we might not have to do bracelets after all.
Along your line of thinking, Just the Aunt had a fabulous idea at one of my 37th birthday parties: a book - people wrote really nice things in it, so I might do that again. |
