My husband also loves bulk pick up! He's going to take the day off to empty our garage, and he's usually up very early in the morning to witness them take it all away! Woo hoo! Now if only they'd offer it more than once a year! |

It is sort of like Santa coming or something...you fear that all your crap will still be sitting there somehow & then it's gone! |

I put out too little! The light grey dishwasher rack is still on the curb because it was all that was in my "pile"! It must have been invisible to the WM guys...I guess I will go ask permission to throw it on someone else's pile in another section of town. |

I'm totally baffled by some of the stuff I see in bulk pickup piles. One house near me had boxes of books, bags of clothing, games, puzzles, etc. Another had two nice porch rockers that needed recaning. If you don't want this kind of stuff, wouldn't donating it to Vietnam Vets or someplace similar be better? You'd get a tax deduction, and hopefully the stuff doesn't end up in a landfill. I realize that probably most of that stuff wasn't there by the time Waste Management came through. But we use the bulk pickup to get rid of broken and unusable stuff, not stuff we could donate. |

I donate things to the Vietnam Vets on a regular basis, but still put those kind of things out on bulky waste day if I have them. I do that because I know that people who want or need them will take them - they never end up going to Waste Management, so what's the difference really? In essence, I'm still donating - it's just not to an organization this time. |

Why doesn't South Orange have regularly scheduled bulk pick up? Why, why, why, why, why? WHY? I've done the: call 6 weeks in advance; describe (in detail) the six (not seven -- six) items you are allowed to leave (if it changes, call back); thing. Our other option is to get up at the crack of dawn to get first in line for the (not nearly enough) "container day" Saturdays. I'm sorry, I don't want this sh*t in my house, please don't make me put it in my car. Oh, and last year, we were so late (at 9AM) that we couldn't even get a place in line, let alone get in to the dump before 4. So, thanks, town. I hear it tell that in WEST Orange, you can leave your crap out EVERY week, and they will come take it away. Who IS this little garbage elf, and how can we make it come here?

Mr T - The curb. I put a whole PC out there last bulky waste day (minus my old hard drive). Oldstone - put them out there - someone will take them. My motto - put EVERYTHING out. Nothing has ever been left by the time I get home on bulky waste day (and most of the stuff isn't even still on the curb by the time I get up in the morning on bulky waste day...) |

Oldstone: Put them out early. The guys who drive around with the vans and pick through the stuff we leave out will grab them in a minute, if one of your neighbors doesn't get to them first. Mr. T: If you want to be responsible about it, you should wait until hazardous waste day in Cedar Grove to get rid of that computer monitor. However, it wouldn't hurt to put it out early on pick up day and bring it back in the house before the pick-up guys arrive if it is still sitting there in the morning. |

I think next year I'm going to run around picking up the books, clothes, etc. and then donate them to the Vets. You people are wasting tax deductions! |

Kriss, I wonder what the six thing is about...*six* weeks ahead, *six* items...maybe someone making these rules has OCD or something |

Argon: Incorrect, but then, who would think to ask a semi-retired supernatural entity on a fixed income? Here in Boca, BTW, nobody ever throws things out. They just move. Go in peace. --The Oracle of MOL |
