Here's one post which makes him likable:

Quote:

No, that makes sense.... opinions fly fast and free around here, which is (more or less) the point of a message board. At least, its the point of this kind of message board. (That's not a shot - I visit other boards which are very matter-of-fact sites concerning very specific topics... useful but not fun).

I guess there's a distinction between having an opinion and having an informed opinion... but its not like anyone is doing surgery based on MOL information, right?

If you really want to see a great example of the 'opinion' thing, check out the political soapbox. I do this rarely, but I'm always amazed at the threads... very interesting.

Oh, and PS - there was a great comment on the board within the last few months... something along the lines of "everyone here thinks they're an expert" and there was a VERY funny comment attached. It was something to the effect that "if someone can parallel park they think they can fly a jet" or "if they've seen one episode of The Discovery Channel all of a sudden they're a shark expert", something like that... as I recall it was kind of a generalized observation about American "get it quick" culture.

It was interesting.

No attacks; gives credit where credit is due. And admits he likes Howard Stern and gives intelligent reasons for it.

His screen name is short and sweet.

He likes me better than some other posters.

Wendy-
How can someone not like you? I could understand someone not liking me; but can't see someone not liking you.

You're right Case. Blame it all on S. If the search engine worked for me, I'd count the ways I like your posts. Alas and alack tis hopeless. But feel free to enjoy the moment. I'm glad you're enjoying it.

It IS pretty funny. I'm actually thrilled that you posted this (for two reasons)... the lesser of which is the fact that I just found out about the birthday party!

I don't see it unless you're referring to the Vomit Boy icon.

I like case because he is an expert in many computer topics and gives his advice freely. I also learned that while he "does computers" for a living, he will go to people's homes and help out without charging, as a gesture of good will.

He takes ligeti's rants too seriously, and that's entertaining.

To be fair, I charge more often than I don't. A lot depends on the circumstances and the relative complexity... how the hell do you charge for a 10 minute visit, anyway? I'd feel silly.

Ligeti has issues.....I side with Case on his arguments, but not as passionately.

Smells like a Case fan club here

Well, we're all lulling him into a false sense of security. When the time is right we'll all band together and crush his self-esteem with a series of really brutal posts - just for the amusement of others, of course

Well that may be some people's reasons. As for me, I'm hoping to get a free computer consult anytime I ask. Machiavellian? You bet!

I don't like him. He ridicules my low-tech triumphs. I also know, for a FACT, that he has interfered with the technology research work of some of my field staff.

Everywhere I go, I am greeted with enthusiasm and respect for my uncanny ability to devise ingenious low tech, anti-digital solutions to problems. But not Case. Or Rastro. Or even Mr. Big Poppa.

Reject the wireless lifestyle in fiscal 2006/07.

There's sad, and then there's pathetic.
