Here are my reasons: I’ve made a couple wonderful new friends who I enjoy spending time with IRL. I look forward to meeting a few more. I got a free piano so my kids can take lessons, thanks in great part to Composerjohn. I get lots of great information and advice. Most recently, I found out from sk8mom that there could be a physical reason why my middle child has been suffering from night terrors for the last 2.5 years. And I was able to do what was necessary to rule out that possibility. It is a great community where people will pull together to help each other when it’s necessary, with incredible results. Case in point: helping Pippi find her engagement ring after she dropped it at the train station; helping to find all manner of lost pets. I'm much better informed about certain goings-on around town, and in the school system. It gives me something to do instead of laundry? What about you? |

- Invaluable old house tips, contacts, contractors, information; - The phenomenal support I received when my husband left, which leads to my having made the closest friends I could have imagined, as well as the unwavering support I still get daily; - Computer tips and advice I wouldn't have known where to look for otherwise; - A good laugh when I need it; - A sense of community and friendship, even at 4 am when you think you're the only person awake in the world. |

A sense of belonging. A sense of community. People who are always willing to listen to a gripe and pitch in with the solution to a problem. Some of the most creative people I have met anywhere. A few laughs and a load of commraderie. Thank you all for making this a virtual web site which feels like a very IRL home. |

My husband takes his politcal rantings here so I don't have to pretend to listen to them. He also prefers this because he gets a much better response.
Also, MOL is good for cat care tips, child school information and other miscellany that I couldn't learn anywhere else. - And we found a great babysitter in Little LL. |

It reminds me of a "party line"! I love listening to others' conversations and jumping in when I can't help myself. It is also a great outlet for a SAHM (me) who is so busy she doesn't have a social life. |

When there is too much stress at work, it provides a brief escape that helps me to stay sane. If I am posting a lot you can be sure that my stress is in the red zone. If you don't see me, things are going well. Where would I be without MOL? The insane asylum, no doubt. |

- Great advice on practical matters of many sorts, as well as a chance to give what help I can to others from what I know - An additional source of news (however unverified) to balance the sometimes biased or inaccurate News Record coverage of South Orange government and other local issues -- MOL has done a lot to make me a more engaged citizen of my town (and school district) - A forum for discussing all sorts of interesting, important and sometimes infuriating issues, with a community of fascinating and opinionated people...and the ability to visit at the times when I'm available. Given I haven't lived in a college dorm in a long time, not a terrible alternative - Laughs, entertainment and sometimes sadness, shared with a community that cares, even when we haven't met in "real life" - And, on the downside, a great way to use up large chunks of time that I don't have, sometimes while raising my blood pressure... Thanks again to our hosts! |
