I haven't had a Chips Ahoy, or any other sweet sugery treat, in several days. I'm not pigging out on anything before bed. I walked 4+ miles Friday and Sunday, and I'm getting ready to go again today. I started my video exercise routine yesterday--and I've only owned it for a year! I'm drinking more water and eating more fruits and vegetables. |

Thanks for the encouragement red, but I think my bikini days are long gone. Tankini, maybe. Actually my dream is to get so tight that I can pierce my belly button and actually have people see it! |

Meandtheboys, you're an inspiration. I wish I could write a post like that. Sadly, every day around 5 PM the "Oreos while I'm fixing dinner" thing gets the upper hand ... and on too many mornings around 5 AM the "hit the snooze alarm and miss the opportunity to exercise" thing gets the upper hand ... |

Yay Wendy! Keep posting, keep me inspired. I made it four weeks and then slowly started backsliding, so you are inspiring me to go for it again. Thanks! |

Thank you all. Hopefully your encouragement will keep me inspired! Pippi, I did it just for you. But as you can see, everyone's still calling me Wendy! I'd love a walking partner (other than child #2 and 3) but I think I walk when you're at work. Library Lady, I never said anything about giving up pizza! CLK, it ain't easy. The Chips Ahoy are still in the pantry cupboard calling my name. Start out slow with the exercise, maybe up and down some stairs on your lunch hour? I figure a little something is way better than nothing.

That is EXCELLENT!! Good for you! I started the "healthier me" in January too. May I share two pieces of knowledge that I've learned thus far, and have really helped me? #1 - Set periodic goals, and rewards. Make it goals that you can achieve in 3-5 weeks, and it doesn't have to be pounds on the scale. For me it's things like, "Work out 3 times a week for a month"; "able to tighten my belt one more notch". Make your rewards things you really want - and be sure to TAKE THE REWARD. Rewards should NOT be food - you'll just feel crappy after eating that slice of chocolate cake. #2 - If you fall off the wagon, do not use it as an excuse to throw in the towel for the whole day, week, or forever. You just say "I had a cookie. It's not OK, but I'm going to move on and I'm not going to beat myself up about it. My next meal will be healthier." You should be very proud of yourself - keep it up!! |

That's great, M&TB. I need to get into a routine. If spring ever comes, that is. Are you still planning your walk today? Got snowboots? |

Dego, thanks for sharing. These are things I already know. However, for number one, I simplify even more by just setting a goal for the day, accomplishing it and feeling good. Today I went out for an abbreviated walk. Had to head home early because it started to rain. But a short walk is better than no walk. And I will do the exercise video again. And I will not eat any cookies. Then I start again tomorrow. If I think too far ahead or try to accomplish too much, I'll get overwhelmed. Then, some day soon, I hope my fat jeans will be too big again! |

MEand...even though I now know that you are Wendy, I like the visual that I conjure up of you and your little boys!!!!! ;-) I like the idea of doing it for just one day and adding to it...I agree...if I think too far ahead I get overwhelmed. I must remember this next week as I prepare for Easter weekend... Keep up the good work!! BGS |

I do too - like the visual that is of meandtheboys. And just had the pleasure of walking outside my house and meeting two of meand's three boys. My hearty congrats for your efforts, meand - you're helping me to stay on course as well. And even better, your boys are adorable! |

I'd be up for that. Just need advance notice to get hubby to block out on his calendar, or hire a sitter! |
