My name has NOTHING to do with the exercises. Really. It's a cartoon dog from jaydonaldson.com. You have to see "Kegel & Enrique Iglesias." A word of warning, this isn't for the easily offended.

It took me ages of gut wrenching soul searching to think of mine. I waited and waited for some inspiration or a sign and then one day a ray of light shone down from the heavens and god said "just use your initials you stupid git".

Initials for me too..I should have included my maiden name initials, they create a nice symmetry.

It would be KMcMK. (FYI: That would be an Irish maiden name.)

Now, if I could just find an embroidery place that would put the first "K" on backwards, I would have the L.L.Bean bag of my dreams!

There doesn't seem to be any better place to post this but welcome back Meandtheboys. I prefer your original screen name over that other Wendy moniker. We have so many Wendy's right now, that it's hard to keep them all straight. And well Meand is just you. And it's great name.

My hair was a bit longer a few years back and I took to wearing it in braided pigtails. Then I went out and bought this really cool Pippi Longstocking t-shirt. One day I wore the braids AND pigtails and well, there you have it...

most MOLers expect me to have red hair (I don't)

can't even wear braids anymore

come to think of it, the t shirt doesn't fit anymore, either...

maybe I'll change my name...

No, don't. I loved Pippi Longstocking when I was a kid, and I was so happy when it came time to read it to my kids. What a lot of spunk she had!

I once saw someone with red braids in Manhattan, and she rigged up wires in them so they stuck up.

( I AM working on fitting into the tshirt and being able to wear braids again...)

Tom - 2 Halloweens ago I was Pippi Longstocking. I get a red wig and rigged it up with a wire hanger. I think I was a great Pippi!

softparade- dead-on cool! One of my faves as well. Album did fairly weakly when originally released and some reviewers thought the added brass and string sections were superfluous (I completely disagree, but they never used them again). Album was re-released in July 1971 just after Morrison died and was a huge seller, in part becuase "Touch Me' was released as a single.

I also have the two albums the surviving members released, one of which ("Other Voices", ironically) was recorded before Morrison died but while he was in Paris. I used to like them a bit but now they sound like complete crap.

softparade- I just got both albums on CD (sh*tty European knockoffs). The songs are actually quite good on Other Voices but the recordings are bad. The vocals suffer- Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek split them about equally and neither is very strong. IMO Robby's best is "Variety is the Spice of Life" and Ray's is "Ships w/ Sails". I wondered if someone might digitally remaster the original, but no one would likely spend the money.

"Full Circle" just stinks...

I confess that I saw the Doors in the Fillmore-and it was an unbelievable experience! but IMHO the power and the performance sound never was the same in any album. Actually in listening to my cds - it is amazing how the records got released with the music flaws- and nothing appears to be cleaned up and fixed like they do with todays artists.
Sorry for the thread drift....please carry on all.!

Didn't see the Dead- but I did see Janis (she wasn't good but that's another thread)- missed Jimi- Concerts at that time began at a bar "the Red Witch" in the Village- (because we always got served..) saw Canned Heat (who remembers!) gosh was I ever that young........
Did not make it to Woodstock because of the traffic jam...
Last memorable show for not a great reason - Concert for Bangadesh - mostly stunk- but when George Harrison came out after 3 hours of sitar music and "inhaling"- in that white suit in the Garden --it was a religious experience!

Oops! this thread is getting silly and sentimental! Drift Away!

Incredible String Band is the main one I remember at Fillmore East. Spent the weekend in Woodstock working at a head shop with my then boyfriend while the Woodstock festival was going on. Had driven up to Woodstock on the Taconic that weekend when word got out that the NY State Thruway was closed. Never bothered to try to get there as the crowd situation didn't seem simpatico where I was (in my head) at the time.

Ironically, my husband spent the entire weekend at White Lake/Woodstock and still has his ticket to show for it.
