Hey BLOWFLY, I can see the future of this thread from here!! (If a man doesn't learn from his mistakes, he's destined to repeat them!) |

Blowfly, if anybody posted something as anti-semitic or racist as this is anti-Christian, they'd be permanently banned from MOL. Why do you think this is OK? Especially during Holy Week, this is about as offensive a thing as I've ever seen on MOL. I can't believe Dave hasn't both shut down the thread and banned you. You met me (briefly)- I'm a nice person - I'm not a Bible-thumper, and I'm a pretty reasonable person. But I am a Catholic and I am really, really pissed off right now. |

Well, I apologize. I should have put a warning on the first post: "SACRELIGOUS HUMOR AHEAD" I know you don't want to upset your omnipotent invisible man in the sky. He knows when you've been sleeping. He knows when you're awake. Myself, I'm a JEW and I don't mind [anti]religious humor. I am coming to believe that all religion is a stupid joke (yes, I read that book). I'll try to post a warning next time. Would that stop you from clicking?

Yes - it would help a lot. I had no idea what this was, so I clicked through, and I really wish I hadn't. Thanks for reaching out from the other side - it is appreciated. (as I said, I'm not unreasonable. ;-) |

CLK, humor often straddles that fine line of what is offensive. Many people don't mind when you cross the line a lot and others not so much so. But realize that not everyone is so sensitive about religion as you. I found the movie predictable (a polite was of saying boring and unoriginal) but not offensive. I could see that same video on tv. It wasn't a big deal, IMO. Your protest really struck me as being like the muslims complaining about that cartoon...just a little over the top verging on shrill. I'd say it's time to lighten up and put on some thicker skin. Have you been outside? The modern world is offensive, sex-laden and dangerous if you haven't already noticed. Now-a-day no topic is off limits for scrutiny and humor, just watch an episode of South Park if you need evidence of this. And while I understand your point that the link to the movie probably could have used a disclaimer, I don't appreciate the need to escalate the situation up to the boards moderators. I HATE when people feel the need to whine to Dave to get their needs met. I hate it even more when Dave gives in to the squeaky wheels. |

I did not whine to Dave, unless he happens to read this thread. The only time I ever did whine to Dave was when a friend of mine who doesn't read MOL was discussed in unkind terms, using his whole and readily identifiable name, behind his back. I'd whine again in a minute, if the same thing happened. I am not trying to squelch anybody's free speech. I told Blowfly that I'm OK with him posting as long as he gives the disclaimer, so that those of us who might feel offended won't click through. I'm also no medieval, which you seem to be implying - yeah, I live in the real world. Sex doesn't bother me (I find some of monster's way-out stuff hilarious , some of it sophomoric, but it doesn't offend me). But the whole point of Holy Week is that it is somber, we are remembering Christ's sacrifice, and to trivialize that by showing Him squashed under traffic, for a laugh, is really not what I want to see this week. I'm just asking that you respect that. Howard seems ready to do that, and that is gentlemanly and gracious. Thanks, Howard. |

(PS I've never once seen South Park and have no intention of doing so ... that's my choice .... because I know what's in it. I'm just asking for the same forewarning here. I want to know what I'm getting into before I click.) |

Well, that actually was pretty funny. I think I'm gonna go forward it to my Catholic relatives. Time to get back at them for sending me all their stuff. |

Are you talkin' to me, Alley? I love dirty jokes. Well, let me scramble by adding - up to a point. I've seen some dirty jokes that were way beyond what I could find funny - mainly involving some form of degradation or humiliation, which is not even a little funny. But I have a lot of pretty raunchy jokes in my archives - mainly sent to me by my dad of all people. A lot of priest and/or nun jokes, too. He loves those, but I can tell you with 100% certainty he wouldn't appreciate the video. |

The Aristocrats--now THAT was offensive, but funny as hell (although for the life of me I can't recall what was so funny about it). |

Because the entire movie was told by comedians. Funny people can make anything funny. 'Nuff said on that. |

There's a prude in every crowd. If CLK is so worried because it's Holy Week, I wonder if the priests are refraining from their molestation this week. |

Suprised it wasn't me who posted that link, Pizzaz???? Is Happy anything what you wish Christians on the day their savior died?? Curious Jews really want to know! I figure that is sort of like wishing one of us Happy Yom Kippur.

We call it Good Friday because we are confessing the Christian hope that no tragedy—not even death—can overwhelm God’s providence, love, and grace. Happy Good Friday! |
