Saw this earlier today,

Class action lawsuit against Epson because their printers would notify user that ink cartridge was empty when it wasn't and halting use of printer forcing them to buy a new cartridge.

They have agreed to settle to avoid fees. If you purchased an Epson on or after April 8, 1999 to May 8, 2006 you can receive a $45 dollar credit to the Epson estore as part of the settlement. There is an alternative to receive a $25 check and $20 credit to the estore or 25% of an estore purchase for a total of up to $100 discount.

Yeah, me too. (Unless you need a receipt. That might take awhile.)

Claim form doesn't seem to require a receipt. But you do need a serial number.

That was the FIRST thing I hated about my printer when I bought it. The stupid chip on the print cartridges worked up to a specific number of prints and would stop working regardless of how much ink was still in the cartridge. Made me not want to buy another Epson, REGARDLESS of the quality of the printer and it's prints. I DEFINITELY LOST MORE THAN $45 OFF THOSE BASTARDS!!! One print cartridge costs nearly that.

Unfortunately this doesn't stop the printer's from abusing us all. My epson will still warn me early and halt the use of the printer.
