Well... Monopoly "sold out" a long, long time ago. There are an unbelievable number of 'customized' versions available, some of which are pretty silly. I got curious, and found this rather interesting link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monopoly_(game) |

Greentree, the last sentence says it all! "But, the original version will still be available for sentimental fans of the game." ps My favorite token was / is the shoe! |

Dog. My brother always ran over the dog with the car. He was evil. |

Some people just bank the money, but when we played, any monies owed because of Chance and Community Chest were kept to the side and anyone landing on free parking picked up the cash. Anyone else? |

Where is Lazydog, we were supposed to have a game of Monopoly! It was to be the finest display of Monopoly playing on this side of the universe. Hey Lazy, I have heard that over on the other side of the pond, like the driving, they go around the board backwards. Is this true? |

greene, those are house rules. Everywhere you go they play free parking differently. Actually, in the rule book it specifies a couple variations and says that house rules may apply to free parking. Officially there is not free parking money in the rule book. (That has been the start of many Monopoly arguements.) |

I hear ya. That's just how we played it. In fact, I didn't know that it wasn't Monopoly Law until a few years ago. Kinda threw my fond childhood memories. It's probably a good thing that we didn't know it was an option. Just would've been one more thing for us to squabble over. |

Not mine or the grand kids as long as my wife and I are around! It's history and if ya don't know your history ya don't know where ya been or where you're going! Uh oh! I feel one of those "When I was a kid, we used to walk five miles through four foot snow drifts just to get to school!" rants coming on. (We did, didn't we?) Or not. Maybe we just stayed home and played Monopoly! |

We lost all the cool pieces (dog, hat, iron, etc.) from our Monopoly set during our move to NJ in 1986, and substituted the little cardboard characters (you know, the ones you stick into the little grooves in the wooden bases) from "Go To The Head Of The Class". I usually use "Sis". -s. |

I dunno... Isn't Monopoly a tad too baldly capitalistic for Mr. LL? I've a feeling that we should stick to "Park & Shop"... -s. |
