is it because most men do not know where their new clothes come from? ("hey, this looks like new underwear! how did it get in my dresser??!?") or, is it because some guys cant remember whether they last shopped at Sports Authority, Dick's or Modell's? ("yeah, I finally tossed the Piazza jersey but Ive got a couple of new Delgado's") or is it because many males prefer "classic" apparel that they still cling to rather than purchase a replacement item? ("honey, wheres that t-shirt from my alma mater that I've been wearing since my junior year?") or is it maybe because much of the apparel men wear wasn't purchased by anyone at all? ("that's a cool golf shirt! get it at your company outing?") so men, do you know where you buy your clothes?

Bob's, Macy's, Gap, Old Navy, Costco, Burlington Coat, T-shirts from everywhere, outlet stores when we visit Vermont or Camelback. All the same places Anna Wintour shops. |

LOL, about the only things I buy myself are suits, shoes and outwear. Undies, socks, shirts, slacks, tshirts and shorts are brought by the tooth fairy and mysteriously show up in my closet at Christmas, Fathers Day and my birthday. When I buy for myself Mrs. K is often critical. I needed some new sneakers for batting around this summer and stopped at Bob's (I really like that name) last weekend and was really pleased that I was able to pick up a pair of Nike walking sneaks in 11 1/2 wide for $29.99 (or maybe $29.95) only to be called "cheap" by my better half. |

Hmmmm... Marshalls, Ross and Old Navy mostly but also occassionally Macy's, Target, Gap, Burlington Coat Factory and TJ Maxx. I tag along with TS very often when she goes shopping and therefore have quite a bit of clothes and shoes. I usually go through the store and pick out tons of stuff I like, and then have TS weed through it (I have given her veto power on all clothing purchases which has saved me from MUCH embaressment over the years) and then I try it on which weeds through much of what was left. |

I usually shop for new clothes when most of what I have wears out. At the end of last summer I threw away all of my shorts, now I have to go buy more, I hate shopping for clothes. |

Gotta go to Syms! Good prices, good stuff, good service. The Mens Wearhouse is also good for dressup clothes. Also, check out Costco. You never know what you'll find. I got two pairs of Italian made 100% wool trousers for $45 each. Amazing. They are very comfortable. I buy Lee jeans from the JC Penney website, since I can't find them anywhere else. Oddly, I can't stand cotton socks. I prefer wool above all, even in summer. When I can't find wool, I prefer synthetic over cotton, odd as that is. So I usually buy Gold Toe wool socks, which are fairly expensive but the durability makes it a good value.

Tom I second the Costco thing. I have gotten some really good deals there on slacks, shorts, shirts..whatever. And it is never the same stuff. So since I always go there for the household stuff, Papertowels, TP, 5 Gallon jugs of Mayo (kidding), I invariably come out with some nice threads. |

Just got back from Costco on 22 and they have suits. They weren't there yesterday. The manufacturer/designer was a name I don't recognize, and I didn't really look at the price as I was running through, but it could be worth checking out. |

LOL. I can't remember the last time my husband bought himself clothes. Oh yeah, I think it was a 3 pack of guinea tees from Conway! I asked why he didn't get me some. My mom & I buy him all his clothes. All he really wants though are Tony Soprano type shirts that he can wear untucked. I refuse. They would look goofy on that small, thin, bald Irish guy! Last year I bought him what I thought were cool jeans from Express. (The men's store.) He hates them. Too low rise, too flair legged. I love them. My future bro-in-law said my husband wears his clothes tight. Everyone wears everything so baggy now. On some people it looks ok, but it can look kind of silly. |

Ahem, I shop as Brooks Brothers. That way, I don't have to worry about what's "in style." I'm always not, BUT, I don't ever look like a total dork. Or, I always do, but at least I'm consistent. J.B. |

I didn't know we were supposed to buy new clothes. I just keep wearing what I have until it needs to be thrown away. And, BTW, usually I don't know that it should be trashed, usu someone tells me. |

The thing about Costco is you have to get there soon after they get a new shipment. Otherwise, all the more popular sizes are gone and the XXXXXL remain. I've bought jeans, slacks, socks, undies (lol!!!), shorts, shirts and a winter jacket there. I have bought several things for my wife there as well. Many of these clothes we have seen for up to 3x as much in the regular stores. |

I was excited that Costco had some Kenneth Cole button down long sleeve shirts. Then I took a look at them closer and realized, I didn't like any of the styles they had. The price was fine, although not dirt cheap by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe 50% what it would cost new in the store. But in the store you can choose from a wider selection of styles. Also, not particularly cheaper than Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx or Macy's when they are having a sale. When my mom was visiting me, she commented that there was a Brooks Brothers across the street from my work and I should throw away all my clothes and dress nicer. I was pretty pissed off. The conversation actually ended with me hollering at her, "if she doesn't have anything nice to say to me, please don't speak at all." |

When it's a day to go shopping, you can't go to Costco in search of 15-34 shirts with vertical blue and white stripes. When buying toilet paper, etc., check to see if they have any clothes you can use. Brooks Brothers is good but expensive. And yeah, comments like your mother's are annoying.

Well I tried to ignore her when she said it. I was silent for a minute or two. But the bile insisted on rising to the surface as I thought over what she meant. She kept insisting that she hadn't SAID anything wrong. But the implication was that she doesn't like I how dress. That I dress cheaply. And that I need to dress up for work as a conservative wank. She's never been to my office and really would have no way of knowing what is appropriate. Also, I kept thinking that she had this VISION of how she wanted her son to be... I mean dress for his POWER job in the city. As if she thought I was a banker or something. Or I wasn't successful if I didn't dress up in overpriced conservative clothes. You know the clothes make the man or something ignorant like that. It REALLY pissed me off. She totally didn't get it. |

I have never ever yelled at my Mother.... That being said, I need to go buy some shirts and shorts, too bad my Mother is about three hours away in PA, she could help my shop, and if I didn't agree with her I could say she's nuts or something, and buy what I want, then take her out to eat. Which makes me thank of something,
Hey guys, wanna' go shopping for some shorts!?! umm, no.... |

Holy Crap! You guys really buy clothes at Costco??????? I have tons of clothes and go shopping almost twice a week. Seriously I have three Tuxedos! If I had to guess I’d say 20 pairs of shoes. Just last night I got really excited that I was bringing the Tommy Bahamas to the cleaners because summer is right around the corner, then I got annoyed that I only had 10, and my honeymoon is 14 days. So I’m going to have to go out and spend about $300 on 4 shirts. I can’t type any more, I have to go to Nordstrom’s.

I only wear sweats in the gym, I won’t even stop on the way home for milk if I’m in sweat pants. Casual wear: If the shirt has a collar, you can wear jeans. If you’re wearing Kakis, a t-shirt (pressed) is ok. THIS RULE IS EVEN IN EFFECT ON SUNDAY MORNINGS! A $75 shirt, looks, feels and wears 75 times better then $1 shirt.

Not Metrosexual, more like OCD. Every thing in my house has to have a place and be in it. I’m constantly walking around cleaning things up. It’s not out of control, just something I would rather do then sit on the couch. I guess that just extends to my clothes, I like things to match and look good. Plus I’ve worn a uniform for a lot of my life. I also don’t leave the Bedroom in the morning without showering. So I’m not the type to run out of the house in sweats.

It’s actually not “Clean”, but organized. As far as I’m concerned cleaning the shower is shuffling your feet when you rinse. I kid you not my fiancé sat me down last week to talk about the scissors. She felt that they should be on her desk in the den, I think they belong in the kitchen drawer (Notice I didn’t say Junk Drawer) with the Scotch tape. We honestly must have discussed it for 10 minutes. The simple solution, she bought another set of scissors, and made sure that these were red to match the stuff on the desk. The Blue ones remain in the kitchen drawer. I am really a disaster to live with.

I buy the majority of my clothes in the outlets when my wife drags me there. I basically buy from Polo, Eddie Bauer & Timberland. My current job allows us to dress business casual so Polo khakis and button down shirts are the norm. In the summer months its the same pants and short sleve polo type shirts. The rest of the time I'm in shorts and tshirts. I do still have tshirts that I wore in college and I wear them on occassion (despite my wife's pleas not to). At any given time I'll have approximately 12 pairs of pants that I rotate and and about the same number of shirts. Very easy since they all go to the cleaners - all I have to do is pick them up and hang them in the closet. If I have one vice its shoes. I have many pairs of all kinds. Dress shoes, casual shoes, sneakers etc. Its the Filipino in me. |
