Solve: (3/4)x + (1/2) = (3/2)
Solution: Multiply both sides by the LCM
of the denominators, 4 in
this case.
Use the Distributive Law,
which says a(b + c) = ab + ac
to make the equation easier to
deal with.
(4 * (3/4)x) + (4 * (1/2)) = 4(3/2)
After simplification, you get an
equation with no fractions!
3x + 2 = 6
(It's left up to you to solve
for x.) |
