This was on the CBS Channel 2 news this evening (Friday) and was derived from a story on their website. http://wcbstv.com/local/local_story_146135256.html The peace and quiet of a Maplewood neighborhood was shattered this morning when a Honda Civic came tearing through with Newark police in pursuit. Police said that speeds never exceeded 40 miles per hour. According to investigators they were pursuing four teens, two of them juveniles, who spent the morning robbing students at gunpoint. Newark Deputy Chief Dan Zieser said, "Two cars were involved doing street robberies. They were robbing kids going to the different schools, like Wequahic High School and McGraw Avenue School at gunpoint." Police said the suspects were working in tandem with two people were in each car, but the duo in one vehicle didn't get away. Police said they also know the names of the other teens they are looking for. According to police this is not the first time the teens have robbed middle and high school students on the way to school. Eme Anyawu, who lives down the street, said, "I think the police are doing a good job, and we are happy we have a good safe neighborhood

I saw the aftermath of this this morning. News truck and cop cars on Prospect. Thanks for posting. My first thought was that there was a meth lab bust on Prospect, but alas, this is the truth. |
