Went birding in the reservation this morning and saw:
Blue Grosbeak - an intense shade of blue!
Magnolia Warbler
Baltimore Oriole
Eastern Thrasher - that followed us.
A vireo - not sure which one.
Several redbellied woopeckers
Northern Flicker
Turkey Vultures
Hawk - possibly Broadwing.
Lots of Robins, Grackles & Jays

It was great to see you so excited. Glad we were finally able to see some birds on one of our birding expeditions!

Thanks for the list. Was going to call you for it, seeing as how I can never remember all the different names. I think the Blue Grosbeak and the Thrasher who followed us were my favorites!

Had a Red-Winged Blackbird and a Black-Capped Chickadee at my feeder today. And my elusive woodpecker was around, but never got close enough to finally determine, once and for all, which kind he was.

Last spring I ran a series of spring birding trips around the area. This year -life got in the way and I wasn't able to run the classes.

Most birding is from the middle of April to the begining of June for the spring migrants - but you can bird year round.

Fall is tough because all the migrants have lost their beautiful plumage and most of the birds are brown and look alike.

So - if you PL me I will keep the list and email you 1)when I'm going out to bird and 2)Hopefully I can restart the classes this coming spring.

CageyD - also look at the NJ Audubon website - they do run programs for kids and also check out the Great Swamp's site as well - both are a little farther than the Revs - but worth the ride.
