Weird and quite possibly unrelated: on Sunday, our lights dimmed for a few beats (not the normal quick dim when every electrical appliance is running and the washing machine switches cycles). Then, later that night, the display on my microwave started flashing a scrolling message "SHARP SIMPLY THE BEST" and I couldn't get it to go back to the clock display. I wonder if those were signs that the power was draining... |

Ms Cooper, if your microwave starts sending you messages most likely the NSA is behind it. Our power didn't go out over here by the Clinton School. |

I would like to take a moment here to say that I love black outs. The neighbors come out to the street and talk. the house is quiet. there is no tv. makes me realize how noisy and distracting technology is. it seems to be the only time that kids don't want to watch tv. maybe I should be faking black outs from time to time. Every room I went in to I would filp the light switch. EVERY ROOM. Even when I was repeating to myself - "there is no power" - habit would take control and make me flip the useless switch.

Did you notice the lovely moonlight? It was only after the lights went out that I saw it... The kids played "hang man" by candle light for an entire hour. I went out to walk the dog and when I returned I saw all three of them playing in the candle light at the dining room table - simply beautiful. |

I guess I wasn't surprised that the lights went out given the date and all.

We also lost our power. Does anyone know what caused it? |

Lost power. Asked PSE&G rep what happened, and the rep said that she did not know. |
