Did anyone see Friday's Star Ledger? On page 23 there was an article about a cat that tree'd a bear, complete with pictures. I also found a link to a short version of the story on cbs news. I hope the link works, the pictures are priceless. It's been my UNscientific observation that orange tabbies do have a lot of spunk. On the same note, calico's seem to be bi-polar. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/06/09/national/main1697234.shtml |

A true attack cat if I ever saw one. I have seen cats terrorize dogs, but this is the first time I have heard of them treeing a bear. During our bear alerts I think I mentioned that the country is going to have to form a dog pack to hunt down wayward bruins. I now think this can be done with cats, which are cheaper to feed and don't make anywhere near as much noise. |

Yes, yet another reason to let cats roam outdoors! (At least the ones that don't tend to get stuck in trees themselves.) |

That was great Combustion! Thanks. Sadly, my orange tabby would have sh*t his pants and fainted after showing the bear the way to our fridge. |

It is lucky for the bear that Jack doesn't have claws so he could climb up the tree and show the bear what's what. |

I know the cat you're talking about. That wasn't really a cat. It was satan wearing fur. |

You want scary? The damn beast put my mother in the hospital once... A no-kill shelter suggested that it be put down... That cat STARTED with 'scary' and then ran with it... |

Seriously, 8-bauble had that unwavering persistence. He was king and you are screwed if he perceived that you were crossing some unwritten feline line. Watch-cats are the pit-bulls of the future and nobody knows!

My darn cat is psycho too. He brings me LIVE crows into my bedroom and lets them go. I have woken up several times now with a crazy bird flying in circles over my head screaching out of the top of their lungs and my cat flying of the bookshelves to try to catch it again. Let me tell you crows are not easy to catch and get pretty pissed when you finally do... I have put bells on him but that wacko gets out of collars and harnesses. He was a stray and basically just comes in to crash or eat but I guess every once in a while he deceides I deserve a treat...yeah NOT |

I can't decide if I like Jack (the bear chaser) or Bajou's cat better. Our cat just kills birds and leaves them on my daughter's pillow. Isn't that sweet of her?

I read somewhere that if your cat leaves you fresh kill, that you should take it as a compliment. They have accepted you as one of them and are providing for you |

Psychomom is correct! Your cat is leaving oblations at the alter of the godhead--your daughter's pillow.Pretty clever, I would say. That is the highest form of praise (if a bit messy and distateful to lowly humans ) Your cat adores her. >^.,.^< Calli

Oh, we know that. It is really a compliment, as well as disturbing. My daughter handles it pretty well. She's not pleased with the carcass, but she appreciates the sentiment. Also, when my daughter is out late at night (she's 17), the cat howls and looks for her. She's very attached to my daughter. My daughter has never witnessed this howling.

That's funny, Tom. Our cat LOVES my husband...(I theorize it's because snoring sounds like purring lOL) But if we go away, the cat will not eat or eat very little until we return. Then he pigs out and gets sick SIGH.

We have received these loving tributes from various feline friends too. I am pretty squeamish, but try to regard them as the unique interspecies compliment that they are. |

Hey Psycho...why don't I lend you my cat when you travel. He will supply fresh meat to your cat daily LOL See I have always had cats and I do appreciate the little mole, mouse, small bird carcas left lovingly and DEAD. But the efin live birds get really pissed when you try to catch them. They are absolutely crazed by the time I can catch em and guess what very scared and very stressed out birds do while they are trying to fly in circles in yor bedroom ....THEY POOOOOOP continuously.... |
