Someone asked on MOL a couple of months ago, after all the knocking particularly of SO, if there was anything good about the area. I posted back giving the reasons why I love this place, and I mentioned that the people were nice too..

I'm now going to take that a HUGE stage further by saying that a large part of what makes our two towns so special and such a great place to live are the very people who live here.

So often we pass by people, all of us in our own little worlds, and either ignore each other, or give a cursory smile, but do we ever wonder about the people we come in contact with? Do we ever think that under different circumstances, could they become someone we'd like to know?

I'm always up for a chat - I have heard some wonderful stories, some sad, and some downright hilarious in years gone by, and all it takes it taken a few seconds to let someone know that you are there. In the last two days I have had the pleasure of meeting some people, some post on MOL and others that don't and each one has struck me as being a great person, so much so that I had to excuse myself and leave, but really wanting to stay and talk some more.

Do we live in a beautiful area? Sure we do, I think it is one of the most beautiful around. Do we have problems? Sure we do, and I have great faith that someday it will all be over, but all of the beauty and potential in my eyes doesn't count for a thing without the people who live and work here, as without you and your stories and your experiences, humour and friendship, this would just be a beautiful town with potential but no heart.

Soppy sap I know, but it's just the way I feel

You are correct, SOP.

It is beautiful here. And it is because of the people.

Yup! We considered moving now since hubby and I aren't tied to the city. My thought is we could move, maybe find a nicer house, but nicer neighbors? Not possible.

I agree wholeheartedly, and I think you are one of the very wonderful people you talk about. It was so kind of you to just give me a million dollars worth of bubble wrap, just because I asked. And then you went a step or two further, and brought me yummy potions for my poor face. I've been using the oil all afternoon, and it's felt wonderful

So, if you are experiencing people as kind and thoughtful, they are probably merely responding to you in kind.

I look forward to having an opportunity to "stay and talk some more."
