I know this gets posted a lot, but-

I am seeking a contractor to redo our second floor attic as a bedroom. This involves raising part of the roof, putting in windows, redoing a bathroom, removing panelling from the second floor, retrimming second floor, refinishing second floor floors, wiring, etc.

Any good advice on contractors? Need to get the work done by October.

I can tell you the name of a contractor you should avoid. Paul Browarney of Arlington Construction took his money and never finished our renovation job (it has been almost a year now). A good tip that we learned the hard way: don't give your final payment until the job is completely finished and inspected by you!!

Good luck!

Thanks.
There is no Emerald contracting in South Orange according to the phone company. There is one in Newton, and there is an "Emerald Development" in Livingston.

I called the Newton number, and they don't have an answering machine.

I recently used Xcel renovation for some work in our house. You should give them a call. They post in this website.

We just had a consultation with a Lou Caruso who impressed us very much. But he hasn't done the work for us, so I can't comment on his work. But am very optimistic. He is at 973-762-2813.
