Gotta add the Ronettes' "Be My Baby" to that list, bro! The drum intro alone.... |

#9, I respectfully disagree. Many of the players on your list have been directly influenced by Jeff's playing. In fact, Hendrix, Townshend and Page were all greatly influenced in their formative stages by Beck. I happen to be reading a Beck biography right now, and it's amazing how he impacted so many influential guitarists. |

First, that's MR. Jerkweed to you... I'd swap out Keith Richards. Even though I love his playing, he's a direct disciple of Chuck Berry (with a twist, of course). However, if you recall, Keith didn't do much of the Stones best guitar work in the early years... |

Moose, Jeff Beck is the first concert I ever saw...I agree with you about his influence. I had the pleasure to see him on the same stage in the early 80s with Clapton and Page (a Ronnie Lane benefit). Beck simply blew their sets away..no small feat. Whats the name of the biography (if its something other than "The Jeff Beck Story")? Chris...The Spongebob Theme is worthy of consideration..but "Wish I Was Back in Texas" by Sandy Squirrel (actually by Junior Brown) is really the best tune from that toon. ml1...The Scooby Doo theme is indeed a good one..I like the Matthew Sweet re-do (like those Thorns too, speaking of Matthew Sweet), but my kids like Scooby Doo so much I have developed a mental block against the show. When they make an episode where Scooby and the gang meet Cass Elliot (and its not over a meal), its a done show. gemini...Spiderman backwards? you mean...Namredips, Namredips...The Ramones cover is great. Im partial to the various versions of The Thunderbirds theme too, but thats not a cartoon, just "supermarionation". Your top ten Elton list has some interesting choices..but you left off "Madman Across the Water".

Tom: First of all, IT'S NOT MY LIST. Second, that's "Mr. Bucko" to you ... But, for the record, by and large, I agree with The List. The Beatles didn't even make the Top 20! Ticket to Ride lands at Number 29 on the list. The name of the book is "The Heart of Rock and Soul", so I think Dave was leaning towards that kind of stuff ... Check this out ... http://www.lex-jansen.demon.nl/marsh/browse_list.htm

Chris and Hank - Not "Me and Bobby McGee." That's a truck, not a train. But how about "The Gambler." Or "The Acheson, Topeka and Santa Fe" (All right, showing my age again...) |

Bob Dylan, "Slow Train" - Man's ego is inflated, his laws are outdated, they don't apply no more, You can't rely no more to be standin' around waitin' In the home of the brave, Jefferson turnin' over in his grave, Fools glorifying themselves, trying to manipulate Satan And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend. |

Hank, What about Babyface? He's bad enough himself, but for awhile there he turned Clapton into his Mini-Me ("If I Could Change The World," "My Father's Eyes"). |
