Our front door is, I believe, original to our house (1920 or 1921) so I want to keep it if at all possible - glass panes with wood surround. The problem is that the wood where the locks & handle are is soft/not holding well, so the stuff comes loose - not enough to be a security problem, but enough to be annoying. We will soon be replacing some of the hardware & are wondering if there is a way to fix this. Would wood filler create better "grab"? Has anyone else dealt with this? Any ideas appreciated.
