While I am chronologically an adult (37), I still try to hold on to my childish ways. Unfortunately, one of those childish hobbies, frisbee, has been hard to hold on to because people move on the activities like tennis or golf.

Yet I still persist. Hence this inquiry: Are there any other like-minded adults out there who might be interested in weekend pick up adult frisbee ultimate games?

Yes! Although I am also chronologically 37 I too hold onto childish ways. I would love to get a game of Ultimate going. Of course, we'll have to play video games immediately afterwards. Private line me if you want to discuss.

Friday night is Alumni Night at the Columbia High School Student Parking Lot. Games are held whenever enough players show. As you probably know "the lot" was the site of the first ultimate frisbee game.

Joan:

I was thinking more in line of weekend days, as well as non-native Maplewooders. For most of us over a certain age, Friday nights tend to spent with our families. Is there enough interest out there for this kind of ad hoc activity?

I haven't played in 10 years, but more than willing to risk life and limb for the 'bee. My 33 year old bones ain't what they used to be.

Can I assume we meet for beers at the pub (if it ever opens) after?

Beer and advil. My new favorite cocktail.

Anyone else interested? For those who responded, do you know anyone else who might be interested?

Count me in, it's been a while, but it's just like riding a bike. Fond memories of tossing the 141 or 165 around in the reflecting pool at Albany State will resurface. Let me know where and when and we'll make it happen.

ooooooo, I love the feel of a 165, mutch better than 141 or 150's. The only thing is, the 165's always ripped up the inside of my thumb.

I guess we'll have to save the 165's for the windy days or the really long tosses. Albany State, was one of only three schools I went to, only spent a year there, ended up graduating from Cornell (much better frisbee players there!) So when are we going to play?

I would defintely be interested in joining in. I know a couple other guys that might like to give it a whirl, too. I've been playing in Hoboken from time to time in a pick up game, but that's weeknights and a pain to get to. I'd love to play a bit closer (and not against a bunch of teenagers that can run rings around my 30 year old body). When and where?

Thank you all for responding. I think that between the posters, their friends, and people I can rope in, we can get a good game going. Please e-mail me at Hfischer@schlaw.com, and I will generate a list of interested people and try to set up times and places for a weekend game. I will also collect advils.

Do we need to set up a mimimum age for this "event"? Just as long as we agree there will be NO body contact, at least between us guys!

Can we come even if we've never played before? I've almost felt obligated to learn ultimate since my kids started at the motherland.

I was thinking of a game maybe Saturday, June 28, at 1:30 or 2:00 pm. Does anyone know if the fields in Memorial Park are open then? Or how we can check?

I'll try to be there, too! Great idea!!

Man... I had a black 150 that must have been thrown 1,000 miles before it finally cracked after a particularly vicious kick. I could never really freestyle, but I had a kick-catch that was pretty cool.

Howard, just give a post a little closer to the date to remind us, okay?

Notehead, you got it. I will commit to advising everyone by email who sends me an email at Hfischer@schlaw.com when and where. I will check to see if there are any town functions that day at Memorial Park. If the pub is open by then we can retire after a few glorious games for beers and advils.

Definitely sounds like fun, though I will have to obey the ten minute rule (after which I would probably collapse).
