Last night I went to a wonderful new Jazz joint called Cecil's. It's on Valley Road in West Orange, not far from Northfield and Main Street. It's a small, comfortable venue with a nice bar with decent selection of beer, a kitchen that includes soul food specialties, and great live music, featuring both local and nationally renowned artists. It's owned and run by Cecil Brooks, the great jazz drummer.

It's very close by, and an excellent alternative to Trumpets and Shanghai Jazz.
