I have a bunch of half cans of paint, some here from before we moved in. Also have lots of scrap wood that I want to get rid of. How can I get rid of this stuff? Bulk pickup is incredibly picky and comes but twice a year. Any ideas other than renting a dumpster, which would be overkill.

If you let the paint dry, and its latex, you can throw it out in the regular trash. If you look in the attic here on MOL, you'll see listings for other places/people who will come haul it for you. We've used Fred Hodges - he's listed in the book, Union, I think - to take away a deck we tore down.

You are right, bulk pickup isn't supposed to take wood, but we've found that they pretty much take everything.
