First its the notion that we "demand" the people in the area of Springfield Ave. in Vauxhall beautify their section to conform to our vision. Then we "demand" that the people in Irvington clean up their town so there isn't any spillover of crime into our town. NEWSFLASH!!! People in other towns don't give a hoot of your opinions, and would probably prefer that you mind your own business, worry about your own town. End of rant, flame away. |

Do you have any demands of any of us on MOL, or are you just sharing and trying to be helpful? |

Speaking of demand, if their wasn't market demand there would not be a zillion nail salons on SA. James O has a point. |

James: Buzzsaw is right. The posters you refer to at the start of this thread are concerned about problems being faced by Vauxhall and Irvington because both communities are our neighbors. There is no impregnable barrier between Maplewood and these communities. As a result, problems which affect these communities also affect us. It is in our best interest to work with these communities to help them solve their problems and very presumptuous for us to assume they want or need our help.

I PAY A LOT OF TAXES, DAMMIT, AND I EXPECT PEOPLE TO ACT LIKE PEOPLE AND NOT LIKE ANIMALS!!!! ALL THIS LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC, "TOUCHY FEELY", "I FEEL YOUR PAIN", IT'S-NOT-MY-FAULT-IT'S-SOCIETY GARBAGE YOU MOL POSTERS CONSTANTLY BARRAGE ME WITH IS MAKING ME SICK!!! I'm sorry, for a moment there I thought I was someone else. Mr. O'Reilly has a good point. If I may add, let's not complain about state or county spending, if it can help improve those areas outside of our town. |

Bratton was right: criminals make criminals. And the school for criminals is called a prison. And in fact we put more money and resources into prisons than into schools. Oh wait a minute... that would mean society does in some way contribute toward making criminals. http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/prisoneducaton980707.html |

funny, Giuliani decided that having people spit on your windrscreen to extort a quarter to clean it off as they entered Manhattan was probably contributing to a climate of fear -or intimidation - at the very least. So he decided that although that was "their" neighborhood, something had to be done. It's called I believe the broken window effect, and it is important. Otherwise, well what if the decay moves one block into Maplewood - is that OK- how about 10 blocks then ? Why would we not want Irvington to address a crime problem that affects us James ? |
