Does anyone know why the purple and black banners are on the Town Hall and why the flags have been lowered? I noticed it this morning.

A local family recently lost a son who was serving in the military, not in Iraq, but still a tragic loss. I was assuming that was the reason.

Nohero:

I hadn't heard that a local soldier had died.

Could you post the name of the deceased soldier, if you know it? My son went to school and scouts with a number of young people who are now serving in the military. I've known these young adults since they were of elementary school age or younger. Now I'm worried that the deceased soldier may be one of them.

Not that I don't mourn for anyone who dies in a war but if I know the family, I would want to reach out to them.

I am certain others reading this board would feel likewise.
