Hi -- we are beginning to think about re-modelling a bathroom. Currently, all four walls are tiled. Can bead board be put on a wall behind a radiator? All the radiators in the rest of the house are next to plaster walls, so i'm wondering about fire safety here!

We have bead board behind a radiator and have no problems. I don't think a radiator gets hot enough to cause a fire. A more likely problem, but still unlikely imho is the wood swelling from the steam let off by a radiator, assuming you have a steam system.

I don't know anything about bead board but I do know that if steam is coming out of your radiator you should find out why.

Bobk is right, though. Your radiator will never get hot enough to become a fire safety concern.

A hot radiator in a high humidity room such as a bathroom creates a lot of condensation, especially if you have a teenage boy who drains a 50 gallon water heater everytime he takes a shower, which is at least twice a day. :
