Geez, couldn't they just have had them hooked up to the taps? Then they could even have a "sprinkler night."

Rumour has it that they put in a direct connection from the taps to the Guinness Brewery in Dublin!

I peak in the window once or twice a week as I walk to the train station. There hasn't been a lot of visible progress in the last two or three weeks.

Guinness, I want my Guinness!!!

I peeked in today and it looked pretty close to done. The bar looks all set up. It was a little hard to see but it looks like they have at least 10-12 taps. Yumm.

That's great news, Chris. Thanks.

But now I have a bigger question...when the pub does open, will there be ample televisions and, dare to dream...Direct TV, so we can watch a ridiculous amount of football?

Just wondering...

Walked by the pub this afternoon and noticed an orange "rejection" sticker on the door.

I saw them taking down the "Coming Soon" signs yesterday afternoon and got all excited. Went back in the evening but they are still "coming soon." I could see in, however, and it looks nice. A man was finishing up a mural on the wall. There is a raised platform near the window (live music perhaps?). The signage is up on the outside, too. Next weekend?

I almost drove off the road last night as I passed and saw tables and chairs being readied. After all this time, I hope this place is good!

Don't worry, it will be good. It's run by good people and is in a good location. Its certainly better than any other bar in Maplewood/SO.

I will ALWAYS buy a beer Nick and Art!!

In fact, if you're free tomorrow night ...

Big Train will bring their brand of horn-infused funkification to Orphan Annie's in nearby Stirling, NJ tomorrow for a special showcase set. Located at 1255 Valley Road in Stirling, Orphan Annie's has been one of New Jersey's premier live music venues for more than 25 years. It's only about 20 minutes from Maplewood and just a few miles off of Route 78 West. There's no cover and no minimum. The band is excited about this opportunity and we would appreciate all the support we can get. It will be a very early set, about 9:00 PM, so you can be home early and well rested for Monday morning ...

We hope that you can make it!

People get ready.

Jaysus and there's a mortarless Irish-fence-like stone fireplace that seemed to be built in no time at all.

Ah, this merriment cries out for W.B.Yeats...hmmmm, perhaps The Fiddler of Dooney :

When I play on my fiddle at Dooney
Folk dance like a wave of the sea;
My cousin is priest in Kilvarnet,
My brother in Moharabuiee.

I passed my brother and cousin:
They read in their books of prayer;
I read in my book of songs
I bought at the Sligo fair.

When we come at the end of time,
To Peter sitting in state,
He will smile on the three old spirits,
But call me first through the gate;

For the good are always the merry,
Save by an evil chance,
And the merry love the fiddle
And the merry love to dance:

And when the folk there spy me,
They will all come up to me,
With ‘Here is the fiddler of Dooney!’
And dance like a wave of the sea.
