http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/08/08/jeb.bush.daughter.ap/index.html amazing how many chances their totally f-ed up children get while their daddies arrest black people and send them to prison for life for "3 strikes" thefts of pizza. amazing how zoe and the other republicans in here don't have a danged thing to say about what pathetic parents the 3 bush brothers are. how can you be a good man and a disgrace as a parent? they love to talk in here about black folks this, black folks that, but most black folks don't raise a gaggle of dopers and criminals like the bushes do. |

I want equal justice for all. If I get in trouble, I want the best justice money can buy. For the most part, wealthy people obtain a higher quality justice than poor people. O.J. Simpson demonstrated that rich black men can also buy very high quality justice. Certainly race is a factor, but so is money. I am not generally thought of as a Bush supporter, but it seems to me that attacking Bush through his daughters and nephews and nieces is a bit over the top. |

Well said, Tjohn. There's enough to debate the issue without dropping to that level. |

"low" is actually all of the b.s. in here about driving thru irvington and hip-hop music and the like. you think this stuff doesn't go on in wealthy white neighborhoods? it's pure and embarassing racism in here to want to talk about black folks the way you people do but to exempt from the conversation our most privileged white folks. |

In any case, whether Bush is a genius or a moron, saint or sinner, the fact is that he is pursuing policies that are not in our long-term best interest. Al Gore stated the issues far better than I can - mountain of debt, unilateral war, etc., etc. I would prefer that Bush opponents focus on these issues and not on Bush's human failings. The Republicans substituted eight years of personal attacks on Clinton in place of a responsible opposition. That was grossly irresponsible and damaging to our country. I expect the opposition to Bush to rise above that muck and focus on the serious issues we face. |

Hello-- why stoop to your adversary's level? Why not keep the rhetoric intelligent and informed rathar that reactionary and angry? If you start yelling like a fool.. guess what? People will take you for one and discount what ever point you are trying to make.

You've got to be kidding "hello." I don't know if you have children, but I'm sure you would want your child to be able to go to rehab instead of prison. By the way, the article goes on to say that she was sent to prison TWICE during her rehab stint for rule violations. I'm sure lot of Democrats raise chidren with drug problems. |

Quick, think back on all the Presidential elections you’ve voted in. How many times did you make your choice based on your perception of the candidates’ parenting skills? If parenting were a significant factor, voters never would have picked Ronald Reagan, a double-divorcee with two dysfunctional families. tjohn is right, we Democrats spent a lot of energy defending Clinton’s ability to govern, even while acknowledging he had the personal morals of an alley cat. Bush deserves the same consideration, namely to ignore the family in debates of public policy and focus instead on his record in office. Anyway, his record is a much better target.
