As a public service, we thought you should be aware of an easy and relatively brainless way to convey your support of the current President. First, follow this link to the GeorgeWBush.com, the official website for the campaign to elect G.W. Bush President. This is a handy form, to send letters of support to our local newspapers. Instead of taxing your brains to come up with something positive to say about the candidate, there are pre-packaged testimonials to choose from: Option A:President Bush's leadership in winning the war on terrorism has been remarkable. After September 11, President Bush acted decisively to rout Al Qaeda, and America is safer as a result. He continues to wage the global war on terror with focus and determination Option B:America is winning the war on terror. After September 11, President Bush acted decisively to rout Al Qaeda from their hiding places, and America is safer as a result. He continues to wage the global war on terror with focus and determination. Our military proceeded with skill and bravery to liberate the people of Afghanistan and Iraq, and ensure that weapons of mass destruction never find their way into the hands of terrorists. Option C:President Bush understands that we must give our military all the support it needs. He has increased defense spending in all of his budgets to give our servicemen and women the resources and the advanced technology they need to face today's threats. This President is providing the strong leadership America needs. Each more accurate and sincere than the last. Enjoy! Of course, there does not seem to be any mechanism to prevent people from using this to send less complimentary comments to the press, using the Bush website. Just a thought ... |

Sounds as if Bush is attempting to become President again. And your point is? |

"Of course, there does not seem to be any mechanism to prevent people from using this to send less complimentary comments to the press, using the Bush website. Just a thought ..." I think the point is pretty clear. This is a format for Anti-Bush Letters, (Idiot Proof) for idiots who can't come up with reasons on their own to further demean our President... Hey, anyone can see that these newly identified idiots are too busy trying to find a candidate to represent their party, then to take time out to think of anything on their own to send to the press! |

Actually, AJC, the link is the Official Bush/Cheney campaign website, and the quotes above are official suggestions from the campaign. By the way, the campaign has made a sort-of hip-hop watch cap available for purchase at The George W. Bush Online Store (It's in the "Kid Gear" section; honest!):
(Okay, so I'm easily amused.) |

I wonder why he bothers. His tactics last time seemed to work pretty well: have a relative in a big state stack the deck; have political allies fix the result. |

"President George W. Bush’s job performance rating has slipped to 52% positive, 48% negative, according to a poll of 1,011 likely U.S. voters by Zogby International. From a post-September 11th peak of 82%, his rating has slipped steadily with the exception of a slight increase following the official end of the war in Iraq. "

We're winning by 4, go team! Give a couple of those 48% a job and it's a landslide. |

I am not a Bush fan, but every well organized, and well financed, lobbying organization uses letters such as those on Shrub's site. The interesting thing is that he is starting so early. Uhm, maybe his slip is showing (his slipping job approval rate that is)? |

John Kerry's my guy right now:
quote:I'm running for President to put jobs back at the top of our national agenda. I'm running for President because the right to organize is a basic right for American workers and it should never be weakened, never be curtailed, never be taken away. I'm running for President to make our public schools a focus for excellence not a photo-op for tomorrow's front pages -- and I am going to criss-cross this country and hold George Bush accountable for making a mockery of the words 'Leave No Child Behind.' I'm running for President because instead of spending $50,000 a year for a young person's jail cell, we should be investing $10,000 a year for a young person's future with early childhood education, child care, Head Start, Smart Start, Healthy Start, a real start on the road to full citizenship. I'm running for President because it is long since overdue that the United States of America stops being the only industrialized nation on this planet that doesn't have health care available for all of its citizens. I'm running to make health care in America a right and not a privilege - to bring costs under control and to cover the uninsured. I am running for President because we have to stand up to Republican attempts to strip the very security out of our Social Security. I'm running for President to make America energy independent - to secure our nation, protect our environment, and create jobs. I am running for President because polluters shouldn't be calling the shots in this White House. We need make sure our families have clean water to drink and clean air to breathe. And arsenic in drinking water is not an environmental policy; it is an environmental obscenity. And I am running for President because after September 11th, we need a President who has the experience and the vision to make this country safer, stronger and more secure. Throughout this last century, Democrats have been the party that provided Americans with security at home. We're the party of economic security - of the minimum wage, of workplace safety, of the right to organize. And we're the party of retirement security - of Medicare and Social Security. But we have also been the party of national security - of the tough-minded strategy of international engagement and leadership forged by Wilson and Roosevelt in two world wars and championed by Truman and Kennedy in the Cold War.

Exactly - a true "ultra-liberal" as the article implies. What exactly does he propose to do with all those young people who are currently in prison? Let them out? Send them back to a head start program? He voted against rescinding the marriage penalty, he is wishy-washy at best on tort reform (and he wants healthcare reform). My old roommate from college is an anesthesiologist, do you have any idea what he pays in malpractice insurance? And do you know why? Not all mistakes are malpractice and just because a mistake is made doesn't mean that the affected person deserves to receive millions. Compensated accordingly yes, how that is determined is another story. A true "tax and spend" liberal. Gotta love those guys. Thankfully with these type of Dems on the ticket we should have another four years of a republican presidency. |
