I have to guess that when the police officer called head quarters they told him to let the girls go because they were intending to raid the South Orange Grille Thursday. And that’s just what happened. Apparently a few cops and some folks from the ABC went into the bar Thursday arresting a few underagers and the Bar and Restaurant manager. I was in there last night (Fri) and none of the regular bartenders were there(the ones arrested can’t work for some period of time, same with the bouncer). It also appears that the word is out because there was only about 30% of their usual crowd. So I guess if you want to try the place again now is the time.

What a shame, the place is beautiful. Why would they ever want to cater to college kids in the first place? How stupid of them... When they see all these young kids arriving at the door they should tell them the minimum age is 50, and then only with their parent’s permission!

Please, Mr. Meade and Mr. Meade III. I only have one request for your eagerly anticipated pub: Fox Sports World...so that we could sing along while watching soccer games from around the world. Thank you. |

I went into the South Orange Grille tonight and picked up a menu to see what they were serving. It actually looked pretty good, and rather pricey, so I wouldn't expect it to be a huge college meal crowd. (Grilled Sesame/soy Ahi Tuna Steak - $18, Crusted rack of Lamb in mustard champagne sauce - $20, 10oz filet mignon w/shrimp in a burgundy glaze - $20) Not to fuel Bets conspiracy theories, but.... at the bottom of the menu, it says that James Hartwyck is the Chef di Cuisine. Is he by any chance related to the Hartwyck family that already is involved in Code Enforcement, Parking, and formerly a Trustee and "special attorney"? |

NEWS FLASH! ATTENTION!!! MR. and MRS. AMERICA AND ALL SHIPS AT SEA... I just heard from two different people at tonight’s Rotary meeting that the St. James Gate Pub will open its doors for business tomorrow, or tomorrow night. Were they just pulling me leg, or has anyone else heard the same information?

The sign on the door says "Open Today at 5PM". Thats not hearsay, but if its not true, some wishing to worship at the altar of Guinness might consider it heresy. |
