Mgl, re "dressed up or down," I was just wondering if people were showing up from work in work clothes (suits, etc) or if they were really casual, t-shirts, shorts, etc. I don't think that's a wacky question. Give me a break.

Jackie
it is definitely "come as you are".
All that's needed is shirt & shoes.

Most encouraging was that the staff seemed experienced and prepared for the welcoming mob. Stayed patient and courteous.

I popped in last night...at around 11PM it was a younger crowd, with a couple of handfuls of patrons dragging up the average age. But Id say its tough to tell what the "market" will be since it was the first night and its still summer and it was a weeknight. A good establishment will serve the needs of a number of communities with its customers. This place should be able to do that...people wanting to grab dinner, with or without kids; people wanting to go there solely as a bar; people wanting a before or after dinner or movie drink or two; folks wanting to go somewhere to watch a ballgame; and so on.

I did see a couple of ties, but folks were comfortably casual (including the occasional baseball cap or two)....tshirts and shorts. I will go out on a limb and say though that as fall approaches, we'll see fewer patrons there in shorts. Its nice to have an establishment like that in walking distance (new real estate sales pitch..."walk to train and pub"?). The owners did a very good job and were rightly enthusiastic last night. Give them a little time to settle in now and work the kinks out.

Pints on tap were $4.25, including Guinness, Boddington, Harp, Michelob Ultra. Nice selection of drafts as well as bottles.

"Hmmm.... I propose the Town make another stop on the Jitney line(s) and add a few late runs to the schedule. (Due to lack of parking, of course.)

Good suggestion Paul…

The truth is I think last night was the first time I’ve ever seen two (2) policemen walking side by side past the front of stores along Maplewood Avenue, (and right past the windows looking into the Pub).

In addition to that, I also don't remember seeing the very frequent number of police cars on the street either. Walking out of the Pub at 11:30PM one passed us in one direction, and another in the opposite direction before we reached our cars.

What does that tell you? Well if nothing else, it tells me the police are on the ball, and your idea has some merit!

Sounds great! I can appreciate a Guinness, but does the place serve margaritas (on the rocks, of course)?

Margarita? -Certainly, the Irish are well known for their love of serving fine mexican cocktails. Be sure to try their burritos as well.

Steel - that's kind of mean... Guess what? We're not in Dublin (Michelob Ultra on tap send a you a clue?)and some of us prefer a nice mixed drink occasionally.
Relax and have another.
Jackie, I'd join you for a Margarita some time.

They have a fully stocked bar..it was tough to miss the Grey Goose bottle on the top shelf. You can probably get a margarita. I think I saw someone walk by with an apple martini too.

This makes two Pub nights in a row, and it keeps getting better!

Thank goodness I have someplace else to go tomorrow night, or they said they would have to start charging me a 3% occupancy tax.

BTW, the police presence remains strong...

A little mean? Perhaps, but only a little. -Call it pub joshing.
As to Michelob, -I will glady confess to a bit of snobbery when it comes to libations.
Woe to those lost souls who would live in the light when darkness is so near at hand. -The unendarkened?

A+ so far. Only complaint is the "pints" look more like 12 ounces to me.

I would question them on that. If they call it a "pint" it has got to be 16 ounces. Otherwise, my $4.25 might resemble three dollars.

Ah, the old 12 oz. "pint" -- that's illegal in England. I've learned that at some other bars around here, the straight-sided glasses are 12 oz, and the wavy-sided glasses are 16 oz. But don't worry, after a few, all the glasses are wavy-sided. I will definitely be stopping in soon. Looking forward to meeting some of you in person there.
