Hi all,

I was wondering if one can pay on a "per ride" basis, or do you need a pass card for the Jitney?

Thanks Eliz.

If anyone notices any modifications to the Jitney schedule that's online - please let me know and I'll make the necessary adjustments.

Here's the page presently online:

Jamie,
The online schedule you posted the link to is definetely out of date. The one I have is more accurate, but I'm not sure if it is up to date (the effective date on mine is 1/3/2000). If you revise the online schedule I suggest that you list the effective date so we can at least tell if another version is more recent.
Thanks, Dave

And I believe the town has a written route/time schedule for the Orchard/Parker Ave. jitney, although it is not running yet. It was posted once here, a long long long time ago. But I think the new jitney route has been relegated to the far back burner with all this tax nonsense taking place.

Can't the town supply a schedule? I know the times for the jitney on my regular schedule, but I seem to remember seeing something new around October.

The town does supply a schedule it is available at the train station's concierge desk (and probably at town hall).

I was down at the concierge today and got an updated schedule. So hopefully what's online now is correct.

Is the jitney opened to anyone, or must you be a commuter?

I don't know what the rules are but I know I have taken it a few times and just got on and dropped 50 cents in the box.

The jitney can be used by anyone for 50 cents, but you must be a Maplewood resident to get the annual ($50) or second half-annual ($25) pass.

Rckymt, why should the new jitney service have anything to do with the reval business. I'm sure the powers that be can walk and chew gum at the same time!! One matter should have nothing to do with the other. What gives, Mr. DeLuca. This service was supposed to be up and running sometime in December, then January......

Marqu - Thanks for the vote of confidence that we can do two things at once. I wait for the day when I can post good news on the website. Here is the scoop. We had the inside of the bus fixed and on its way back from the company it broke down. It is still in the shop being checked out. To complicate matters more, the drivers that we had lined up took other positions when we did not get started. We are now searching for others. I am sorry to say that I do not have a date to tell you when all this will be straightened out.

Mr. DeLuca....why don't you have some timetable. That bus has been "in the shop being checked out" as long as I've been living here(since July) and perhaps before that(?). It sounds as though the bus mechanics just don't know about repairing such a vehicle. Why doesn't the town just hire or send out for mechanics who know what they're doing! Is this really such a low priority?

How many jitneys do we have in Maplewood (not lines, but actual jitneys)? I believe there are 2 that go to the Hilton side, as at 7:00 there is a different jitney in my end than at 6:30. And it doesn't look like the Wyoming jitney.

In addition, today we had some sort of van rather than a bus. I'm told it was the older jitney from several years ago. Couldn't this or the 2nd Hilton jitney be used for Parker until the permanent one is back from the shop?
