Does anybody know the new taxes for houses in Dickens' Village? I heard a rumor from Rob at the Bagel Chateau, that they're going up over 3000%.This may seem a lot, however, it has been over 100 years since their last assessment. |

Are you trying to tell me I've been subsidizing Dickens' Village all these years? |

Ole' Charlie sure may have come from the eastside, but he was a notorious westside slumlord! I meant that "duh" for me, not you, overtaxed...sorry |

They're taxed at only a partial rate as 1) they're mobile homes, and 2) they are only inhabited for a short time each year, pro-rated, but they are on a long schedule. You do the math. |

Is that old math or new math? |

No problem. I just hope we can see that justice is done in this case so that those of us who have been overypaying for Dicken's village all these years get some relief. |

I also heard that a number of children from neighboring towns actually use Dickens' Village as their address so that they can claim residency here and attend our stellar schools. Has anyone investigated these illegal students? At any rate, I'm certainly glad to know that they will soon be paying their fair share of taxes. |

I heard they all signed a petition and will threaten litigation and/or recall of TC. They will be attending the meeting Tuesday night. Should be pretty scary. |

My shed was assessed for $1000. Dickens Village has about 8 of them, so I'd get $8000 for the "improvements". As for the land, I'd guess that they'd get a $170K "neighborhood charge" (see other post re: new letters from Certified). That would put them at $178K in assessed value. Maybe I can afford to live there. |

If anybody has any questions, please direct them to Gerry Ryan. We are well aware of his astute grasp of the facts on this inticate tax topic & his overwhelming willingness to get right to the heart of the problem & solve it!! |

You know, I was happily living inside a small quaint cottage in Dicken's Village until you all started making a ruckus about it! Now I have to duck when people walk bye. I'm gonna be out on my drumsticks soon, and it is all because of you! Hope you are happy. Haha. You know the irony of that statement lies in the fact that, that is the way a whole lotta Maplwoodians feel, non-fiction. Thanx for the laugh all, it is always nice to fall on my arse laughing about something that is causing trouble, I do it often (guess it is a defense mechanism) TeeHeeHee. |

And do you think it is a laughing matter that their "view" (from their backyards) is of the parking lot? Was that considered in their assessment?? |

Yes, that's why there is the "shed" factor. |
