They gave us some very reasonable estimates, and they were very responsive--returning phone calls, following up, getting the estimate out ASAP, etc--so I have a good feeling about them. But I'd like to know if anyone's worked with them and if so what was the experience like? Thanks in advance!

Did you ever hire Pintona? We're looking for a responsible and reasonably priced contractor as well. Hard to tell who to trust.

In fact I just sent them a deposit today--we're having them replace a couple of buckling plaster ceilings with sheetrock and rip out a closet. Will let you know how it goes--work is supposed to start next week. My good feeling about them continues, since they've been very responsive and professional. One I would def. avoid is Bob Hume--just felt their estimate process was a bit sleazy and prices very high. If you want gory details let me know!

If you don't mind me asking, what are they charging for sheetrocking the ceilings(approx. size)?

Don't mind at all--they're charging $1300 for two rooms, one 9 by 11 and the other 10 by 15. This includes plastering, sanding and painting ceilings after sheetrock is installed.

They painted our house and did a very nice job. Have seen some other repairs at other homes and they seemed well done.

ASH: Why would they do "plastering" if they are replacing existing plaster ceiling with sheetrock? Just curious...

Sullymw, thank you for the feedback on Pintona. Xavier67, I have no idea! I'm imagining they do a little plastering over the sheetrock or something, which I guess would be nicer than just sheetrock only...

Some people refer to taping and finishing with joint compound as "platering".

They could be putting on a skim coat to retain the original look of the plaster. Some like the idea that the 'integrity' of the home is intact.
You should ask...

Glad to hear you're happy with Pintona. This AM we were leaning toward Hume, but I agree that the price seems a bit high. Would like to know what turned you off. Do you have a number for Pintona and a contact name? If you privtae email me your name I'll mention that you recommended them.
