Just moved to Maplewood 7 months ago and have received two solicitations from American Water Resource to purchase Sewer Line Protection Insurance (around $90 per year). It says that each homeowner is responsible for the sewer line running from the house to the street which is not covered by home owners insurance. Does anyone have this Sewer Line Protection Insurance...or is it a waste of money?

I asked this same question several weeks back and two people responded that they did believe it to be worth the extra money, which isn't all that much as I recall. A lot of these lines are very old and the insurance at least defrays the first several thousand dollars of repair cost.

We have it. You are not covered by your homeowners insurance so may really want to consider it.

As I recall, it was less for us but I think they solicit at various prices to test what the market will bear.

Be well, all.
