I find it interesting that Jimmy Swaggart, and others, were held to a different standard than what is being said about the very Reverend Jackson.

It's kind of like having a man of Ted Kennedy's moral standard question Ashcroft's.

I certainly thought Swaggart to be a hypocrite, most people did. Yet, with Jesse, I'm hearing a different tune playing, one of forgiveness.

What do you think?

I understand that employees of PUSH-Rainbow are concerned as to how much money was given to the child's mother, and where the money came from. Does this bother anyone?

The good reverend should have practiced what he was preaching when he lead that chant during the Democratic National Convention.

Is this coming out now, so it can hide behind the Maplewood tax story?

My guess is that our republican friends and democrats alike have known of Jesse's daughter for quite some time, but the timing of the story seems oddly co-incident to correspond with Ashcroft's hearings.
Any thoughts on the synchronicity?

Yes, the timing of the story, first reported by "The National Inquirer," was purposely ment to coincide with the Ashcroft Hearings. It is a well known fact that "The National Inquirer" took steps to plan the story's release, in order to focus on the Abortion issue.

There's one reason Jackson is being treated differently than Swaggart: numbness. We've become so desensitized to sexual immorality over that past fifteen years or so since Swaggart that nobody in power dares to condemn.

When I first saw the headline, "Jackson seeks forgiveness, Admits he fathered child with aide," I panicked.
"Oh dear Lord, no," I prayed, not again! Michael Jackson has fathered yet another child without police intervention?

Then I realized it was Jesse Jackson, spiritual leader, they were talking about, and not, God forbid, the King of Pop. Better a man (any man!) in a clerical collar begetting kids than one disguised as a kabuki performer in a fedora and eyeliner.

Of course Jesse Jackson is sorry. He got caught. What I would like to know is, where does he get his money? A $40,000 settlement and $10,000 a month? Where does that come from? He doesn't seem to do anything. What a waste.

He is a public figure and his morals should be questioned because he is a reverand. I could care less who he sleeps with but if I were a contributor to his cause, I would certainly like to know where the $40K and $10K per month support comes from.

The Supremes, no doubt. I have a feeling this thread would have been much more interesting if it happened to Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson!
