A hearty round of thanks and praise to those that braved the weather to support the cause for Habitat for Humanity. The stage, the food, the drinks, the bands, those setting up before and those cleaning up afterwards. A splendid night for all, and certainly thanks to all those that turned out for the evening. As for the voting: The winning group was Backspin, from South Orange. There were some gripes about a 'rigged' electoral process and some barbs were flying about the height of the ballot boxes, the shape of the ballots themselves and the impartiality of those counting, but obviously, the real winner of the evening is Habitat. If you have not been involved with the charity, try to give them some of your time, you maay end up learning a skill to apply to your own home. Of course that would raise the value, and we know what that will end up doing.... Anyways, a big thanks to all for a wildly successful night. |

As a member of the newly elected Rock-n-Roll Royalty, I would just like to say that we will keep our promises and begin our reign by trying to push through that $1.3 trillion Essex County tax cut that we've been talking about. Seriously, it was a fabulous time and I was so impressed with the spirit of the crowd and the bands. Titanium kudos to Chris for organizing such a super event. (Actually, they're out of titanium kudos, you'll have to make do with cardboard kudos with a pleasing faux finish.) Oh, and as our second action I intend to appropriate the awesome Fender Rhodes used by Logistical Nightmare. Please leave it on my porch at your convenience. |

Absolutely! Well said, Musicme. What a night! Thanks to all the folks you showed up to support The Last Battle of the Basement Bands. The final numbers are not in yet, but we are confident that our three-year total will be more than $20,000 raised for Habitat for Humanity. We are very proud of this. If you would like to support Habitat by banging some nails, please call them at 973-624-3330. Thanks to all the folks that made it happen. Kudos to Mighty John for way cool stage design and lighting. Bernice & Denise, thanks for decorating. The place looked great and we loved those center pieces. Thanks to Christina Lang, MC Extraordinare, for keeping the five-ring circus on track. Thanks to all the friends and neighbors who helped clean the place up at the end of the night. Thanks to Eric Flannigan and his crew at OLS. Thanks to ALL the bands! Folks, if you are having a party, hire one of those bands! Congratulations to Back Spin for being named the winner. We know that some folks felt disinfranchised during the election process, but it is time for the healing to begin and we must all support Back Spin! Thanks to Maplewood Sound Studios for donating the prize for the winner. Thanks to all the local restaurants who donated food - Pizza Primo, Sunrise Pizza, Village Tratteria, Bunny's, Reservoir, Celebrated Foods, O'Reilly's ALL came up big time. Please patronize these good neighbors. Sorry about the lack of forks at the start of the night! We did have to turn some people away at the door and we are sorry this happened. It would have been nice to have a bigger room. Thanks again to everyone! |

No doubt, no doubt. I wish I knew more of the people involved better, but I think I foresee that happening. $20,000 bucks over the three shows, that is such a fantastic accomplishment!! I think we should have just one more... at NJPAC. |
