My daughter's bedroom door is misaligned, and I see it's because the upper hinge is pulling out of the doorframe. I took the hinges off and saw that they were attached to the doorframe by mollies rather than screws directly in the doorframe. Perhaps the original screwholes got stripped out. These mollies don't seem to hold well. I hammered them in a bit, and that helped a bit, but not enough. At this point, the holes must be pretty big, so I doubt there are woodscrews that would fit them well any more. What's a good approach to putting the hinges in properly? Thanks!

Can you use long wood screws - 2" or 3"? There is usually a lot of good solid wood around the door frame that will provide a good anchor for the screws. |

I have had good luck with stripped out screw holes by dipping toot picks in wood glue, stuffing them in the hole and letting it dry and then reinstalling the screw |

Ditto. Use tooth picks if you can find toot picks. |

No Tjohn, yah gotta use toot picks. They are a lot stronger. I really have to start reading what I write. |
