Does anyone know of any events, fun stuff, or anything special going on in NYC this weekend? Or perhaps just some suggestions of ol' time favorite activities and/or places, I'm getting sick of my usual city routine. Thanx. |

The main thing I'm aware of this weekend is the huge Chinese New Year celebration in Chinatown. There are events at various cultural centers, there will be a big (but crowded) parade through Chinatown on Sunday complete with Lion Dancers, immense drums, etc. This is the Year of the Snake so I'd expect to see lots of Snakes around, too. It's fun, it's loud, but it is rather crowded (but very good natured) if our experience last year was at all typical (I suspect it was from Chinese acquaintances' comments.) They will block off the streets so you can just wander around. I think the most crowded time will be on Sunday afternoon during the official parade (those are some pretty narrow streets for a pretty major party.) Bacata |

I figured you meant New York City since you said NYC but I've been looking for a good place to mention the SHOW that will be put on at TUSCAN SCHOOL. What sort of thing are you looking for in NYC? Is it for family or Adults only? |

If you pick up a Time Out New York magazine you'll find ton's of ideas. If you have trouble finding one in Jersey, I'm done with mine and you're welcome to it. We love going for dim sum in China Town and then to Little Italy for desert. Favorite beer bar (if your into that) is DBA on 1st Ave between 2nd & 3rd. We also love The Living Room (lower east side) for live acoustic music. Are you looking for a day or evening activity? |

I'm so glad you got to advertise the Tusacn School thingie. I do not mind, really, it is nice to get the word out about school events. so just to reiterate for everyone, FEB. 2nd & 3rd AT TUSCAN ELEMENTARY! haha hope I helped John. To answer your question, not a family situation, two friends, something fun, NO drinking, for a groovy afternoon/evening out. Wow Nina, that "Living Room sounds nice, do you have the address? Anything else musical? I'm really just lookin' for new ideas, I know the city well, and I want to do something special. Thank You all fpor your help, and keep the suggestions coming. Thanx~ Flugermongers. |

Livingroom is dark and smoky. And not only acoustic. Interesting though. No cover charge or drink minimum. |

www.newyork.citysearch.com also has listings, and you can sort by date, or by type of event. |
