Wouldn't it be great if we could access all official Township information via the internet? Just how hard would it be for Maplewood Town Hall to have an E-mail address and a directory of interested citizens to send information to. We could be informed and save trees at the same time! Imagine Township Committee meeting agendas e-mailed to citizens who have requested them, looking up recycling guidelines and even tax maps through our own Town Hall. I do love visiting the building when I find it necessary but I would really love to be periodically kept up to date on Township business without leaving home. |

Whatever happened to the "official" Maplewood website that was announced by the Town Administrator about a year ago? |

kmk... that would be great, but you'd have to spend $ to achieve it.... for the system... to load all of the info... to hire someone to answer all of those requests... I don't know how PC it is for the town to spend any more $ these days. |

I remember asking Celia King when she was campaigning in the Village a couple of years ago why the Township didn't have voice mail. Her response was that it would be too expensive and take too much time. The town might have to fund a full time position just to take and relay messages. Her reaction to the website question was equally negative. Seems the town government doesn't have the time or the resources to keep in touch with the town's citizens in an official way. I had hoped that things might have improved since then but we still have a long way to go to integrate technology into our township government in a meaningful way. Any TC members reading this: When will we be able to get a voice mail system for after hour inquiries or a township e-mail address that can be used for the same purpose? Too many of us work out of town during business hours to get to town hall every time something comes up. Ms. King's suggestion that I try using the drop box at the station doesn't work unless its checked more often than whenever it seems to fill up. |
