I recall seeing a poster at the community center about a Jazz show featuring Clark Terry and other notables on Oct. 11 in SO? I've poked around the village website for info on the show, but to no avail. Can anybody tell me more about the show. Where will it be? What kind of room? I'd love to bring my 5 year old, is it an appropriate venue for her? How do I get tickets? Thanks. |

The Giants of Jazz is a great, great event. If your young one is interested in Jazz(or you want to foster that interest), but you are reluctant to pay the freight, ArtsMaplewood will be putting on a "Music for Kids" show on the morning of 10/25 at the Burgdorff Cultural Center. The show is entitled "Brass and Jazz for Kids" It's part of the Maplewood Jazz Weekend. Check out the MOL Calendar for more info |

ros -- Thanks for the info. I hadn't heard of the Maplewood Jazz weekend. Sounds good. My daughter loves jazz, and can recognize some of the greats (Ella, Lady Day, Sachmo) instantly. A few weeks ago she sat and watched a Dizzy DVD by herself. It's nice to see, especially since I love jazz and attend shows in the city regularly. I think she'd get a big kick out of the Giants show. She's been asking to go, and since it seems like she wouldn't be out of place, we'll probably check it out. |
