Dave, This new "subtopic" format. I don`t think I like it. But hey, that`s just me. |

I don't like it either. I now have to go into each subject to see what's new. I use to skip things I wasn't interested in. Bring back the old board PLEASE!!!! |

Tupperjo- You can follow new posts by using the "Last Day" link. It's what I use and it works great. The reason it was changed is because the front page was becoming cluttered and loooong. This had happened before, but typically some of the topics became dated and could be moved. However, with the recent flood of new users, nearly all topics are remaining active. |

Dave, I like the subtopics! It was horrible having to scan 50 topics covering the reval. Now we group things more easily. |

Last Day is very cool. A great feature. Finally a way to sort. |

I've been using Last Day for a long time, but even that feature was being overwhelmed by the incredibly long and disorganized "front page." I like the subtopics, too. Thanks, Dave. |

I miss "New Messages", and I'm not sure about the new "subtopic" format. However, I also know that my inability to wait a few hours between checks of this board helped to cause the overload. Sorry for breaking your website, Dave. |

I don't mind the subtopics but can you bring back new messages? |

Dave, One more vote against subtopics -- I think it will hamper exchange of information on this board as not everyone will take time to flip to each subtopic. Please reconsider for those of us who use this board to get contractor recommendations etc. Thanks |

When (if) this reval thing settles down can we go back to the old format?? I liked it's "diversity". |

Yet another vote against subtopics. At the very least the number of topics should be kept to a minimum. I'd prefer the reevaluation as one topic and everything else in another. Or perhaps as Eliz implies, if there is a hot topic generating a flood of traffic make a separate topic for it, but keep everything else together. |

Dave - the reval revolution seems to have calmed down a bit - can we have the old board back? Pretty please????? |

Let's all post "bring back new messages" so that Dave has to move this thread under "Controversial" :-) |

At the risk of garnering the envy of all who use this board, and the wrath of Dave who might take it away from me..... I still have New Messages. I bookmarked the page before it went away and still access it every time I log on. Dave, is there any way that I can share this valuable capability with the others on this board? E-mail a link or something? Let me know. |

You could post the link, if it still works. You would go into your edit bookmark function, and copy in the link. However, Dave may not officially sanction this function. |

Whaddaya mean, "Dave may not officially sanction this function"? Throw off the chains of the oppressive webmaster! (You know I'm just kidding, right, Dave? Dave? What are you doing, Dave?) |

Against all better judgement, the New Message function has been restored. The trouble with it on my end is that it's *very* processor intensive and had during some heavy usage periods brought the server to a crawl. The price you pay for functionality, I guess. However, if it's used economically it might be able to stick around. We shall see.... And the old message board format may be restored when the reval topic calms a bit. |

Re the return of New Messages: Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! PS - Please don't judge the performance based on the next few days as we all fire it up again. When I did it just now, it had to go back to my last request (1/24) and I'm sure it took far more cycles than a typical one, since I'm usually in here at least once a day. |

Jerry, Dunno. The page itself was not changed. I'll look into it later today or tomorrow. |
