First off, thank every for making our kickoff weekend a big success with GrooveLily. We had 2 full houses at the Burgdorff Cultural Center. This weekend we'll be back at the library with Irish tenor, Timothy Liam Smith! Showtime is 8pm. Bring you ticket stub to St. James's Gate after the show and get a free beer! In a tapestry of Irish music, poetry, anecdotes and humor, "Love and Longing" leads us on a journey into the great Celtic themes of love for family and friends, and longing for home and freedom. Most of the material will be very familiar to audiences, with such beloved numbers as The Green Fields of France, The Star of the County Down, The Fields of Athenry, The Wild Rover, Macushla, Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go, and more. Smith, well-known to Seton Hall University's Celtic Theatre Company audiences for his lyric Irish tenor voice and sensitive acting roles, has been delighting patrons since his 1992 one-man production about the life of the great Irish tenor, John McCormack. He recently created and performed another one-man show, "Reflections: Ireland in Song and Story", to sold out audiences. "Love and Longing" is the third in his trilogy of one-man programs. "He sings as easily as he walks." - Bette Spero, Star-Ledger |
