Does anyone have a recommendation for a good place to get a custom sized berber area rug with a binding? I went to one place that seemed a little expensive. |

I have a friend who has had several of these done. I think she just goes to regular carpet places on Rt 22 or whatever, gives them a measurement, and asks them to bind the edges for her. I'll ask her where she goes next time I can. I know she considers it a decent deal. |

Smith & Noble offers custom-made rugs that look great in the catalogs. check out their site at www.smithandnoble.com. |

We have done this several times. I believe we bought them at Eistein-Mooney (sp?) who may be out of business. Go to the remnant room at the carpet store. You can often get a very good price on top quality carpet and they will bind it for you at a nominal charge. This is assuming that you are looking for regular carpet, not a fancy pattern area rug. |

bobk - you have reminded me of my three great experiences at Einstein Moomjy - though two were with pre-made area rugs, one with a stairs + hallway runner. they provide an excellent product, and, as I recall, can make any rug for any area. their prices are, from what I can tell, average, but service and product are superior. they have a ton of samples on site. their website is www.einsteinmoomjy.com, nearest store is, I think, on Rte 10 (eastbound side) not too far this side of 287. If you go to that store, ask for Jerry Tutt - a great sales rep. |

Rug stores are a dime a dozen. Shop around for a good price. If memory serves me, it is about $1 a foot for a 1" inch binding. |
