We desperately need our home windows cleaned. I tried to do it myself in the Spring, but it's more a job for professionals. Can anyone recommend a company they have used before that specializes in cleaning house windows? I checked the online NJ Better Business Bureau, but found only a few companies located pretty far from here. |

I can't recommend anyone but I can warn you to stay away from FGB. |

Brookwood Crystal from Verona. I've recommended them here before. They are great. 973-239-0567 talk to Don. |

We've used Cleaning America twice, and will give them a good recomendation! Here's what I've found via the Search engine: "Cleaning America (800-528-2321 out of Bergen County) has done my windows several times. They're very good, efficient, inexpensive ($4.99 per window, including storms, no matter how many small panes the window has--15 window minimum) and pretty neat." |

Brookwood Crystal is great. Our windows were in such bad condition that Brookwood needed to use (and charged me extra, which they notified me of) acid and razor blades on them to remove years of muck. They assured me the $700 bill this year would be reduced by half next year since they did the acid/razor clean this year. It was well worth the $$. They changed the look and feel of my house. |

Bak, by years of muck do you mean paint by any chance? The exterior painters we hired did not put tape on the glass and now we are trying to figure out how to get it off. |

Jab-yes they removed paint--it all comes off with the acid/razor blade combo. |

Excuse my ignorance, but when you guys are talking about window cleaning, are you talking glass only or do they clean the inside sill thing and the wood around the window also? |

Brookwood cleans the sills, I don't remember if they clean the outside wood, I'm sure they will if you ask. The owner inspects every window and makes sure everything is pristine. Worth the extra money, especially with the days getting shorter and every bit of sunshine in the house is welcome. I used to use FGB but they really made a mess with streaks and old rags left all over. I think I recommended them to some people on MOL and they had similar unfortunate experiences (mea culpa) |
