Need to get a couple of rooms painted, one with a very high vaulted ceiling that we're just not willing to conquer. Can anyone recommend an interior painter? Thank you. |

World of Color is excellent. They have done two jobs for us and several for friends. We have all been very happy. The painters do a fine job, are very professional, and go the extra mile to make sure you are happy. They did several spontaneous major plaster wall repairs for us without adding to the time of the job or adding to the cost. I would recommend them highly. Their number is 973-313-2338. William is the owner. |

Another vote for world of color. Good. Clean/neat. Affordable. Good with trim and woodwork too. Don't expect to be able to communicate with any of the workers in English, though. |

World of Colors does wallpaper. I used them for one of my bathrooms, when they were painting a bunch of rooms. They did an "OK" job. I think you would be better off hiring a wallpaper specialist. The 2 rooms I had a wallpaper guy do are significantly better then WOC's job. I didn't save any money using WOC & wish I had just called the wallpaper guy to do it in the first place. |

WoC is great- they did our cathedral ceiling & William is coming by tonight for another estimate for the den. DO NOT let them wallpaper! Long, horrible story ending with: the wallpaper guy came to fix the damage & William paid for it, along with the replacement wallpaper. Word of advice- if they hang drop cloth & have to put tape on walls, make sure that they use wallpaper tape & not just painter's tape! |

At the risk of engaging in thread-drift, can anyone recommend a good wallpaperer. Thanks. |

greenetree, why do you recommend wallpaper tape? What's the difference? I ask because I recently painted a room myself and used the blue painter's tape to mark off the ceiling so I could paint the wall cleanly. Unfortunately, when I pulled the tape off, it took a layer of paint with it in many spots. I then had to spackle and repaint those areas. What a nuisance. I wonder if the wallpaper tape would have been better for that purpose. Thanks. |

Is WOC good at exterior painting as well? And are the price in line with other painting contractors? Thanks |

I believe that WOC is affiliated with Rutgers Painting. WOC does the interior, Rutgers does the exterior. Rutgers is very good, and priced reasonably. |

This past summer, we (along with several neighbors) used Mario's Painting... he was considerably less than Rutgers. I believe Mario and his father worked for Rutgers for a number of years and recently started their own business. Overall, they did a good job...they fixed all of the issues that we pointed out.

Jasper- Wallpaper tape doesn't cling as well, so it's good for hanging plastic when you need to put tape on wallpaper. WoC ruined our dining roon wallpaper by using regular painter's tape, so that when they took the tape off, it pulled paper. If the blue tape pulled off plaster, you may have left it on too long. I've made that mistake before, especially when a weekend painting project ended up being a month-long saga. I don't think that stuff is meant to stay up for more than a few days before it self-cements. Wallpaper tape can be difficult to use on unpapered walls precisley because it doesn't stick very well. So, you may not get the kind of coverage you need. FYI - on the WOC & dining room wallpaper saga- it turned out just fine & I still highly recommend William: He offered to have one of his guys fix it & I said I'd prefer to have my paper guy. He promised his guy could do it, so I told him he had one shot & that I only had a small bit (enough for the repair) of the original left. When his guy screwed it up, William was very apologetic. I ordered enough new paper to do the entire wall so that the different lot wouldn't show & left the other 3 walls as they were. My guy hung the paper. William paid me back for the new wallpaper & the labor immediately. So, he does stand by his work and fix his errors. My wallpaper guy is Joseph Shear: Wallcoverings Expertly Hung Chatham, NJ 07928 (973) 635-5995

We have used Dilly Bros for wall papering, deck refinishing and interior painting. They are originally Maplewood guys now based out of Berkeley Heights. I believe they are firemen who do this as a side business. Reasonably priced and nice too. Ph # 908 665-1982 or email at sdillybros10@cs.com |

I just got estimates from Mario's, recommended by a neighbor, and WOC, recommended on this board. My neighbor raved about Mario's work + prices, so I was surprised to see WOC's estimate come in at 20% lower. Plus, WOC can start in about 2 weeks, whereas Mario can't start til January (though it's for good reason - getting married, 4 week honeymoon... must be nice). |
